Rolled an
18/53 18 18 15 18 18
For a human fighter to dual to druid
by the end of BG1
19 19 19 16 21 18
by the end of BG2
21 19 21 16 21 18
and by the end of it all
22 20 22 17 22 19
For a total roll of 0_0 122!

Khazza Pilgrim 06-28-2003 12:33 AM

Started a new game this afternoon. Usually like Paladins because its easier to get higher total roll but went with a straight fighter to convert to Berserker in SOA. Got this roll after appx 25 min about fainted outta my chair. No cluaconsole's or Gatekeeper tweaks. Do not use them unless its to fix game bug or something of that nature. Currently have played him to lvl 3 have not used any Tomes yet. Current HP 33, Neutral Good align, Prof = Bow **, Lg Sword ***, have xp cap rem, current TOTSC patch and Baldurdash fixpacks installed.

Str= 18/88
Dex= 18
Con= 18
Int= 13
Wis= 13
Char= 16

Am a BG vet and have played through several times including a FMT solo. But this is by far the most excellent roll I have ever gotten and I am looking fwd to putting the char all the way through to the end of TOB.

Myrddin L'argenton 07-30-2003 09:41 AM

I just can not be bothered rolling for 15 min so I might use ctrl-shift-8 next time

Sonic 07-31-2003 10:48 AM

Hmm this is whye i thought my pala did rengnerate he had 22 in con hehe =D

dragonslayer 08-01-2003 01:04 PM

Elf Fighter lvl 6 going into Cloakwood mines, will end up as a Kensai as someone abpve posted lolz

STR: 18/76
DEX: 19
CON: 18
INT: 8
WIS: 18
CHA: 16

stats un-edited =) not the best i've had though, had 14 int on a pally once, with /84 str

this is a killing beast with 4 in longsword and 2 in bows,

TheVulcanAndroid 08-01-2003 11:12 PM

Ctrl-Shift-8 ? What does that do? Edit: n/m seems to be a BG2 thing

And, on the actual topic...

This is a bard I rolled, but never used, as I forgot it was much easier to pick up the gauntlets of dex than those of ogre strength, and 30 lbs is hard to do solo, especially with some quests needing 100+ lbs to be carried from A to B. I was thinking of dualing her to a warrior class (was thinking Pally, hence 18 WIS) when her pickpockets got decent, hence the 18 CON (to be 19 eventually).

Female
Human
Bard
Str - 7
Dex - 18
Con - 18
Int - 18
Wis - 18
Cha - 18

If this is playable solo, I'll try her out, but otherwise she's just a fond memory of a good roll (97).

IIRC you cannot dual from a Bard and you cannot dual to a Paladin. You also need to have higher Str to be able to dual to a fighter (is it 17?)

TheVulcanAndroid 08-07-2003 12:27 PM

Yeah, I forgot about that. Which is a good reason I don't play her. ;)

Khazza Pilgrim 08-09-2003 02:42 PM

Not questioning anybody's integrity. But straight up I wanted to find out how long it took people to get these incredible rolls?? I have been playing TOTSC, SOA for a few years and recently TOB. The absolute best roll I have ever attained was a total 98 for a Paladin. It allowed me to max out the important stats needed for a Paladin but you still cannot go below min's on Charisma and Wisdom. It took me appx 1 hr and 15 min to get that 98 roll. I have been reading some of the rolls people say they have gotten and some are almost all 18's straight across. Like I said I am not questioning anybody's integrity or honesty but wanted to find out how long they had to sit there hitting the re-roll button??

True_Moose 08-09-2003 03:13 PM

I usually fluke it, Khazza. I make sure my rolls are all over 85, but sometimes I fluke out. I've played the game so much that I do get god-like rolls every once in a while. I've never spent more than 15 minutes tops, rolling a character. Plus, I am a notorious character creator, so I have possibly more than 100+ characters sitting on my hard drive.

Xen 08-09-2003 07:16 PM

Just the two of us...making castles in the sky...shut up already! :D

I too have a tendency to make a characters every 5 minutes...

TheVulcanAndroid 08-09-2003 10:34 PM

Well, it took me about 5 minutes to get that roll. I originally decided I wanted a mage that could easily have max strength, so I sat there rolling and rolling for about 30 minutes coming up with very little luck. Then I decided to try for a bard, since bards pretty much need every stat, depending on what you want to do with them, and iirc, don't get to use charisma for their magic like they do in 3rd edition. I could be wrong on that, though. After 5 minutes of rolling, I got a NICE roll and kept it. Unfortunately I poorly assigned my attributes and she became absolutely useless. Or close to useless, anyway.

No luck??? 98 is pretty good (even for a Paladin). Right now I am playing a Fighter/Mage/Thief and had to accept a total of 92. Not bad, but it could have been better . He is a little low in wisdom, but with 3 tomes of wisdom it will be much better

Khazza Pilgrim 08-12-2003 12:03 AM

Believe me, I am not really complaining. Was pretty happy with that roll and made him into an Undead Hunter in SOA. As you can imagine, after using all the Tomes in TOTSC he was very powerfull. My comment was geared towards people whom have claimed rolls to start a game in excess of 100 or some that are almost straight 18's. I was just polling to see how long they rolled to get that lucky.
Personally, the Paladin in question took me about and hour and 15 min and thats the longest I have spent hitting the re-roll button.

That makes three of us, then :D I can't help it, there are so many characters that I want to play at the same time. I don't like using NPC's for tasks; soloing with a party (lol) is so much more fun. They talk to me, I do the work. Ah, life is good.

Pyrenk 08-14-2003 02:03 PM

Human Paladin: Eleasias (yes, August )

18 Strength
18 Dexterity
18 Constitution
13 Intelligence
14 Wisdom
18 Charisma

Beautiful...99 points :D Took me only 5 minutes, too, and I wasn't even trying to get a roll this high.

By the end he should be at 19/19/19/14/17/19 (Cha-21 w/ Algernons, although getting that will be a problem.)

ADD-The strange thing is that it took me only 5 minutes. I rolled for about 3 until I got an 89, and I saved it. I then re-rolled, and recalled. I repeated this, and in ~2 minutes I had my 99. I'm not sure if recalling/re-rolling has any effect, but it's a possibility.

Over the years I have become a Cleric. My first character ever was a ranger, but now on my eleventh time through the I'm a Cleric of Helm (and of course i'm a Lawful Neutral in real life too according to tester out there) for the fourth time in a row. Because i'm the type of guy who always wants to be in the middle I usually start with a fighter and dual at level 4. Meaning I'm a battle cleric! Cant really stand the always good dooing priest "Anyone need healing"...

My current one looks like this:

Human (always)
Name: Taishar Rann (always)
Lawful Neutral (always)
Starting stats:
18/19
18
18
10
18
17

Got this amazing total of 99 in about ten minutus. I used Imoen's sword to get my jaw off the floor! I have rolled much in my days, very much. Baldur's Gate, BG2,ToB and IWD, thats A LOT of rolling. My previous best on was 96 with a paladin in BG2, and its easier to get high scores with paladins than eg. a Fighter so...

Helm yeah!

Khazza Pilgrim 08-15-2003 11:09 PM

The last couple of stats posted at least seem realistic. Might try the saving my highest roll, recall and re-roll. You are probably right that there is nothing special about this method but,,, you never know. Thanks for the replies guys.

Firetoad 08-19-2003 05:13 PM

By far the best character needs TSC installed: Human Fighter/ Druid Dual Class
Start as a human fighter with:
18/97 Str.
18 dex.
15 const.
3 intell.
18 wisdom
16 charisma
Go to sixth level to get both extra weapon proficienicys in Large Sword (for Scimitars)
Dual to druid after getting Charisma tome.
Let the rest of the party "carry" you to a level 7 Druid. Now you are indestructible, you could ditch your whole party and go solo through all but the expansion parts (where you need to detect and remove traps). You can kill anything with your scimitar skill, and you can wear the best metal armor, with the Guard ring, and the Sune ring, and wield serious power with the eventual 21 wisdom, cast 5th level priest spells, and use Call Lightning. Put on the Displacement cloak, Balduran's Helm and end up with 19 str., 19 dex, 16 const., 4 intell, 21 wisdom, 17 charisma.
Also, with a scimitar and sling, fighter druids can carry all sheilds, no restrictions, so get the +1, +4 missile Large Sheild, and you are set.

Firetoad 08-19-2003 07:47 PM

This is probably missing the point of RPG and challenge, but for some good old fashioned butt-kicking it is hard to beat!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Pyrenk 08-20-2003 08:44 AM

Actually, it's very easy to beat. Kensai/Mage with 18/18/18/18/10/18. 100 points, not that rare.

You're right, it's horrible for roleplaying. How could you be so strong, wise, dextrous etc. and be such an idiot at the same time?

Let's see ;) :
Me fight with big shiny sword. Me no slow with sword. Me crush you, crush you to go!

Let's see, fights with the sword (strong), not slow (dexterous), and knows to kill (that sounds pretty wise to me ). It's got the ogre talk, so it makes a perfect idiot :D .

And also, ever notice how lots of spell casters in the game are intellegent, but not wise, which could be quite typical of an 'ambitious spellcaster.' Do you expect to see a wise AND intelligent spell caster all the time?... Of course not

Don't care about Charisma, you have to buy things that are more expensive, e.g. with 17-18 charisma, you can knock off a third of the price, not to mention if you have high rep which knocks off more (50%) you can see one of the benefits of being a paladin

Pyrenk 09-03-2003 12:22 PM

Paladin with 20 rep and 20 Cha (Al's cloak/Nymph cloak). Sweeeet.

Hi everybody....this is my first post on here. I am currently working on my 2nd trip through BGTotSC. right now my character is:

Delphina
Half-Elf female
Lawful Good Mage
HP - 23
currently level 7
AC 6

STR - 16
DEX - 14
CON - 11
INT - 18
WIS - 10
CHA - 12

Prof.
small sword +
blunt weopons +

she's been pretty good so far except you really cant lead a party with a straight mage without getting your butt handed to you everytime you turn around...LOL

by the way...how are these people getting such high stats on their characters??

How did you manage to get such LOW stats?? A total of 81 !! If you reroll and keep your highest total roll (independent of where the points are assigned) for about 10 minutes, I guess you are able to reach a total of 90+ for a mage. After you have decided to stop rolling the dice, distribute your poinst by subtracting from some abilities and adding to others.

IIRC my elf mage/fighter/thief had a roll with 92 in total (after 15 minutes). I distributed the points like:

STR 18/xx
DEX 19
CON 15
INT 18
WIS 7
CHA 15

which will become:

STR 19
DEX 20
CON 16
INT 19
WIS 10
CHA 16 (-> 18 with a certain cloak)

after using all the books.

For a mage I would prefer using a sling for ranged attacks. Ie. have high dex and a '*' in missile weapons.

If you are a power player like me (I know about the 19->20 dex issue, but I am a DEX freak too) you could make a better character, but for role playing she is well balanced and quite OK (a little too strong (STR) though, maybe).

Yeah, keep trying helps, but some people do it for about 30 min so that might be a little excessive. Oh yeah welcome

Silversten 09-16-2003 07:46 AM

I hate min/maxed chars, i like the rp beter. My favourite character was my elven thief.
18 str
19 dex
17 con
12 int
10 wis
10 char
Besides i reroll my chars for like half and hour or more and i have never got more than 90 :-(, best ever was this one, 86 (i think lol).

I used my thief on my 3rd time through to try to find all the secrets and all the items in that game.

I really like my thief casuse i had so much fun stealing everything in the hall of wonders and other such places.

As stated in my earlier posts. Was wondering how long people were rolling to get the godly stats they had to start a game. At the same time I do not ever remember having to roll more than 10-15 times to get at least an 80-85. I could not imagine only an 80 after a half and hour. Possible that some weird anomaly between different versions of the game? Don't know, maybe someone with a lot more tech experience can hypothesis it.

Silversten 09-18-2003 09:45 AM

That was a typo, never over 90, thats was my best roll ever, 86.

InsaneBane 09-18-2003 09:57 AM

Hmm - something tells me that you are rolling too slow. Mostly I only spend 1 (one) second to decide if a roll is good or bad. If it is good I spend 4-5 seconds to do some average calculations (everything above 15 gives plusses, everything under 15 gives minusses. Ex: 18 15 16 12 14 17 goes like +3 + 0 + 1 - 3 - 1 + 2 is +2 => very good roll (92). Right now I go even faster by 'pairing out' some of the rolls. Ex: 18 and 12 pairs, 16 and 14 pairs, 15 is thrown away. Only thing left is 17 => +2 => 92 total)

BTW: I thought that the '80 is my best roll' stuff was true. I just thought that you have read 6 of the '+1 to abitilty' books.

Its in a cave, i think there are two.
