Bakilas' Notebook
---------------
(This is all written in a neat cursive style, it seems to be a notebook of facts concerning the job)

*Mansion contains necklace, should be easy job. Will hire group of fools to do hard work for me.

Fools:
---------------
Mithval - Gnome, need a cleric just in case I am injured and he seems like he would hardly be a threat after.

Keal - All brawn no brain, hopefully he wont make it out of the mansion alive.

Ulest - Not sure of this one, seems simple enough at first glance but am unsure about him.

Alatariel - Seems a bit on the goody-goody side for the job but I think she can be convinced. Could be a problem after but I need a mage.

Androw - Fighter with some magic skills, good weapon back-up.
---------------

The Thief Guild's Hunters
---------------
The thief guild has a group of hunters that scare the hell out of even myself, I have been tracking them for several days and have noted this -

One of them is an elf, once I got closer I realised that he is blind, I figured that I could easily slip my dagger into his back there and them but I barely managed to escape with my life. He is fast and deadly, must watch out for him.

The second is a large human that I found familier, I did a bit of searching and soon discovered that he was previously a pit fighter, and what a fighter he was. I had once seen him rip a goblin in half and wash his face in it's blood. Many say that he is insane.

A strange melding makes up the third member of the group created by the experaments of the thief guild he shares several characteristics with a snake, including the scales and fangs. Scares the beejesus out of me.

I managed to follow the fourth member into town one days and saw him beat four thugs to death, I dont know much about him except he was banished from the monastry he was studying at for some crime. Will have to look into it further.

The healer of the group is a horrably scarred follower of Shald'uren the goddess of sacrifice. It seems that everytime she casts a spell her body suffers a sacrifice, but she seems to be the only good hearted member of the group.

The sixth member of the group still remains a mystery to me, I will look into it deeper.

OOC: I assume the book still cannot be opened and is warded against simple spells?

IC: The group have a long look around the room for clues, when one notices the book.

Alci picks it up and attempts to open it. As he does a sudden shock passes through him and the book slams closed again...

"Hmm, anyone know of a place we can take this to get it opened? The thieves guild will have the power to unlock this but, I think the less we report to the thieves guild the better, although they are probably already aware of our find through their spies.."

Alcibiades tosses the book to Mithvail, "Here you have a look at the book, perhaps you can shed some light on it.."

Keal 08-06-2004 12:43 PM

"You might be right, but we also only have a month to find this guy, and he obviously is good at runniing and hiding. It will be a slightly risky move, but a move we'll have to take." Keal says and turns to Alatariel and Mithval. "Unless you two can open it."

bio 08-06-2004 12:49 PM

Bio hears about the man and says,"Well, I'm gonna check with Keal and Mithval to see how they're doing.
After a couple minuets he says,"They've fouond a book... but they can't open it. Keal says it seems to be Bakilas's journal."

Sythe 08-06-2004 09:24 PM

Androw nodded at Bio's statement.

"This is good news it seems the other party is doing well. Now so far we know is Bakilas met up with this "confident" man and is most likely a foreigner. A collector of rare and exotic treasures? Maybe Bakilas met up with this man to appoint the time of transition. Or maybe a contact from another rival Guild that Bakilas has secretly been working for. I am not sure. Bartender what were the man's features?

shadowhound 08-07-2004 08:46 AM

In The Tavern (ooc: I just got sick of writing names)

The bartender shrugs, "Do you have any idea how many people pass through here each night? All I know is that he was tall. Could have been human, elf or even a half-elf at my guess. They were not in here for long and thats all I remember."

In Bakilas' Room

As Alci throws the journal to Mithval it knocks against the desk and falls open, you see a small dint in the cover that reveals a button that must have gotten pushed in when it hit the ground.

Keal 08-07-2004 10:27 PM

Keal takes the book and begins reading the Journal to Bio "Hey, we got it open! hears what it says,"

"I knew that he selected us for some reason. I'll contact you when we find something else."
He turns around "Well, what do we do now? Should we start searching the taverns?"

Alcibiades clances at the page Keal had opened..

"Ahh my friend, this clue may be what we need! I noticed several of the men of this description downstairs earlier, before you arrival. As I was listening for any information on your..ah 'friend' Bakilas I listened into the conversation, they didn't mention Bakilas' name, but I do recall the large man and scarred priest discussing a rondevous at the docks...Perhaps they are expecting to ambush OUR prey there? May I suggest we regroup at the docks..I have a friend who works there, he may know something if we do not find Bakilas himself..What say you?

Alcibiades looks at the large man and jolly gnome with a raised eyebrow, then glances at his short sword, it was made of a dull black metal.

"Keal," Alcibiades looks up again, "Best tell your brother and his band to come prepared, I doubt the party describes in Bakilas' book will take too kindly to us stealing their prey...That's if they are not already under orders by the thieves guild to dispose of us also, the bounty hunting business is a treachorous one, and I feel for my disloyalty to the guild, this job is.....shall we say..too small a price to pay..."

Alcibiades looks down then raises his hood over his head again..

Keal 08-10-2004 08:58 PM

"We should go, I am a bounty hunter, so I will know if we are their prey, and their tactics. I will protect you along with Jaradu if I must." He tells Bio's group to meet them at the docks.
