XIGNAL'S MAPS & WALKTHRU

I don't think we're going to see Xignal's site up and running anymore but much of the information has been transfered to IW - not quite the same but much of it is there:

http://www.tgeweb.com/ironworks/wiza...st-index.shtml

Xignal is owed many thanks for all the hard work he put into his walkthru and maps. His efforts helped so many players! Thanks, Rick, where ever you are!!

I got a way of Beating the Pit Crawler ( Gigantic Scorpion in Boogre cave )without taking a hit. All u do is push the spectators at the rim of the pit inside to make barriers and usually the Pit Crawler is 2 big to get past any of them. 2 push them just keep walking into them.

i got a better way, cast a firestorm or two.. even if you dont have firestorm hes realy easy, he just has alot of hp

Rusty Shackleford 12-04-2004 10:23 PM

a little tip is... when you see that living tree guy... KILL IM! its the best thing i ever did, i just dragged him to the water and he dint go in so i stayed at a distance and dumped all my firestorms and meteorstorms on him and then drank a mana max potion, dumped all my storms again, rince and repeat and then he gave each of my party members 2.5 (word deleted) million exp!! they each went from level 18 to level 28!! i had to do it for the seed quest anyways, i wonder if theres another way to do it... well, this one is my favorite way anyways

I know a simple variant of well known way to make a strong character in a short time, but u must allready have one with massive damage attac. to help the new one.
When u start adventure - there is a sorc near the right gate of the town (i don't remember his name). He vanishes quickly, but with a help of Invisibility, stacked bloodlust, haste etc. spells u should kill him quickly enough. He will give u exp high enough for your new character to advance few levels
AND he offen drops anks. Kill him, make lvl., change guild (may take a while to do quests), reset adventures. u will get stats, hp, low - lvl skills. Hope u find it usefull - i did

plenty 01-01-2005 09:33 AM

One more thing: there are few ways to feed your vampire char., if u need it:
1: Toughen
2: Bite
3: Lifesteal spell (not only on warmblood creatures)
4: Summon an animal. Then summon another one to attack the first one. Paralize them all (or run quickly). Eat them

plenty 01-06-2005 07:53 PM

Fallowing bsftcs's sugestion, here's a copy of a bug I found during skull castle exploratin:

When u take an item from adriana - u can vanish her (do it quickly!). If she is vanished too close (she continiues to invoke the scroll) or the spell failed - repeat the process (be quic!). If she Vanishes near the entrance (close to the water) she might greet u again and ask for the scroll of banishing. Steal it from her and give it back to her - then repeat the whole process. I managed to get 2x vampire ring and a lich key before she attacked me instead of greeting, and could not be vanished further...

Quicker way to kill the Pit Crawler:
Initiate the fight, then use a character with good athletics to 'climb' up the wall of the pit. From up there, just blast away with spells and arrows.

Kynaeus 03-22-2005 11:10 PM

If you get both pieces of Dragon Ore from the mines, you can get two sets of Dragon Plate mail, plus more if you pick the treasury key from Freyedies (or you can kill him like I did )

Kynaeus 03-27-2005 11:11 PM

Ok to elaborate on my last point

Follow the path naturally through the fire area of the mines and mine all of the ore piles and get your ?Silvery Metal? which is actually Dragon Ore.

Now head back, but stay to the right. I believe you can jump on to wall and slowly slide down to a path that will take you across a few rooms until you meet a Lava Hound. Kill him and mine the ore piles in the room for a second ?Silvery Metal?. Go back to King Freyedies.

Give Frey one silvery metal go and stand outside for 10-20 minutes. Go back and retrieve your armor. Give him the second ore (For me he finished the second armor instantly). Use your rogue with a high pickpocket skill and steal the key to the treasury, use it on the lock to your right and plunder the treasury.

If you can't steal the key, attack Freyedies. Be warned, he will occaisonally summon a new set of guards to attack you (If you go in the hall right outside of the throne room it seems they will not attack you and you can cast spells and whatnot to dispose of them). This is good if you want lots of experience, if not kill Freyedies first and take out his goons. Take the treasury key from Freyedies corpse, unlock the treasury and raid.

---PATCHING/UNPATCHING---
UN_Patching: before patching make sure you backed up files you are going to rewright. They are

D6item.dat
deep6.exe
ttoada.l2n
ttoada.nvs
Gmdata.pak

Also game cd1 contains this files.
Copy them in directory named "Backup".
And when you come up with decision that you don't need patch just rewright this files(copy them in the root directory).

Patching: When you need your game patched again rewright this files from patch folder...
Purpose of unpacthing: infinite gold tip works only for the unpatched version.
And you don't need to reinstall the game!

great site, has a patch to play the game without a cd, i got the patch. it has no viruses and the game runs perfectly

vbartuccio 05-04-2005 06:37 PM

cast vanish everywhere, saves hours of gameplay. some especially useful places are the crypt grates and bronze firebeast for multiple plays through or for skipping some (boring) dungeons

vbartuccio 05-04-2005 06:40 PM

the players guide is a ripoff. this site has much more and much better information. i've just saved you as much as $30 USD

vbartuccio 05-04-2005 06:46 PM

take occasional breaks from the game. your computer will not jump up and run away when you are gone. EX: for every 50 min of gameplay spend at least 10min on break. you can prevent siezures (sp?) and also stay in shape. so remember, have fun with the game, but remember that you have a real life and your own needs to fulfill as well

vbartuccio 05-04-2005 07:26 PM

be very cautious if you kill the "good" npcs. they do NOT respawn unless you hit the "RESET ADVENTURES" button. the reason to be cautious:
YOU MAY STILL HAVE BUSINESS WITH THEM IN THE MAIN PLOT

tip/spoiler for final battle wit Cet

the only weopons that will hit Cet are the Mavin and The Staff of Death.
A previous tip said to avoid training characters in weopons other than swords. BAD IDEA. The 1st time I faced Cet my warlock had the highest pole skill--6 my character with the mavin was level 9 sword. It took forever to kill Cet. my healers went in to overdrive resurecting and restoring the party. The 2nd time I played through the Mavin bearer was level 12 sword with his prowess and gallantry skills at 5. ditto for my staff bearer. Cet fell in half the time--since I could do so much more damage.

QUESTION FOR THE SAGES: Will any other weopons work on Cet if the weopon is placed in the black fire? Has anyone tried it?

Bungleau 08-23-2006 10:46 PM

I don't think anything else will change in the black fire... but it's worth a try if you've got some time to play with it :D

When going into the serpant holds, where you have to fight the unholy slime filth thing monster, that often causes people to get stuck, save. I believe the problem has something to do with the corpse, for when I went through it the first time, I got stuck, I loaded to a time after I killed it, still was stuck, loaded to a time before I killed it, then I killed it again and had no troubles getting through

Lord Gorbag 11-09-2006 06:20 AM

I had to buy a ship before I left Brimloch Roon - the computer would not let me leave through the gate until I had bought one, so I would recommend being sure you save 10.000 gold for a ship. I didn't need to use the ship, but I did have to buy one.

I have the unpatched version, so I'm not sure if this changes in the patched versions.

Uncursing - free inventory

Well, i'm not sure, if anyone still reads this thread at all. nevermind...

Wenn you go to the temple to uncurse something, make shure you have sufficient space in the inventory . Uncursing automatically causes the character to unequip the item, but when there's no space for it, the game puts it back where it was, which immediately reactivates the curse. In other words: Nothing happens at all, except the fact, that you throw away your money.
I had to learn this with elyssias serpent-staff, which costs 3000 gp to uncurse.
Thank god i alway save the game before entering a city.

Woodwose 09-25-2007 04:28 AM

Re: BEST TIPS!

And here's another "free-space-in-inventory-tip": Remember, when you change your role, the character unequips all items he can't use in the new role. And when there's not enough space in the inventory, the items are dropped, and dropping in the temple for exemple means they are lost! (I didn't try, but i think in the other buildings, that have a "buy"-button, you can buy them back. But at least, it's a waste of money)

Level Formulas

Experience points needed to gain the next level.

For the first fourteen to fifteen levels the formula seems to be:
XP = 1.5*(XP for old level) + (XP for level 2)

Thus for a Rogue wanting to gain level 9, 1.5 times 28,955 = 43,432.5
Drop the 0.5 leaves 43,432. Now a Rogue needs 900xp to gain level 2.
43,432 + 900 = 44,332
This formula is "recursive", it also has a direct variant.

At higher levels it takes a flat 250,000 xp to gain a level. That is about 12 or 13 levels in any class. The skill points won't be as good compared to gaining one additional level in the current class, but there will be plenty more levels.

So my characters had 6 to 8 classes each.

Re: BEST TIPS!

Page 6 mentions the stuck in the water and drowning in the Serpent Temple problem. My solution was to cast Vanish when the party finds itself unable to leave the water. This should work, the party can then retrieve the Snake figurine easily. Hence there is no need to worry about the Xydusa questions and their answers.

Errors on page 7, the "Stats needed for elite roles" table has two transposition mistakes:
Barbarians need 8 Presence not 8 Will
Warlocks need 10 Spirituality not 10 Strength.

I tested these role ascensions at the Warrior and Wizard guilds to make sure that the manual was right.

Said table has been altered to include the requirements for the four base classes, this would tell you how far you had to go in order to qualify for an elite role. For example, the Wizard needs an Intelligence of 9. Three classes require only a score of 8 while two require 10. Thus a Wizard will start only one point away from meeting any Intelligence requirement for any elite role.

Blessings and Enchants

The post on page 19 has one error, it reports the "to hit" bonus to weapons as an Enchant when it is actually a Bless. This makes it easier, the Enchanter won't need a level 7 Spirit spell. I tested this by taking the first save game from John Hubbard's site and using hex-editing to give Shamino and Polgara all of the artifact spells, along with the mana and spell levels to use them.

Woodwose 02-27-2008 04:54 PM

Re: BEST TIPS!

That's only half the truth. The enchantment-post has a second error:
Blessing with Stone-Magic doesn't add armor-class to armor. It seems to me, that blessing with fiend-magic does. It also seems that blessing with stone-magic doesn't do anything. Question: Can you enchant armor with stone-magic?

Shadow Stranger 02-27-2008 06:33 PM

Re: BEST TIPS!

I will have to look into that tomorrow. What I will do is give a PC one artifact spell at a time and see what the effect is. I may only need to alter the last of the three PC records in the save game file.

Edit:
As far as I can tell, the Stone Bless for Armor is unfortunately correct. I altered a save game to give Johne, the first PC, five spell books. He already had Artifact of Spirit. Then I made sure that he had at least 8 in all six spell skills. One book at a time he gained each of the five other artifact spells. My methodology was: visit the Temple and see what Blessings were available for armor and what were available for weapons. Then visit the Magic Shoppe and see what Enchants were available for armor and what were available for weapons. Then invoke another spellbook and repeat the above process: I was looking for any change in the available options.

By all means try this for yourself! Hex editing in spell books is easy, the first two places are the item numbers, see the first two columns below. Place 5 is the number 4. The name starts at place 11, see D6Item.dat for the exact spelling of the names.
4C 01 332 Book ArtifactOfSpirit
5D 01 349 Book ArtifactOfFire
63 01 355 Book ArtifactOfIce
7E 01 382 Book ArtifactOfVines
88 01 392 Book ArtifactOfStone
92 01 402 Book ArtifactOfFiends

You can get the Evil Eye trait for more than one character. After the first character has invoked the Evil Eye's power, insert it into the eye-shaped slot that is used to open the path to the Idol of Aku in the Boogre Caves. When you take it back, it has been recharged and you can use it again. Repeat until everyone has the trait!

I have just discovered that various team-mates in your party will pick up dropped items after battles as you walk over them - I have been using the cursor to pick them up individually! :)

As soon as you "use" the Lamp on another char. to invoke the Jinni, the Jinni appears and starts to talk. As soon as he starts talking, enter your inventory screen and DROP the Lamp!

Then, exit the inventory screen, and when the Jinni asks you to choose a "gift", pick a TRAIT(e.g. Arms of Argus)you want the char.to have, NOT an ITEM.

When he disappears, pick up the Lamp with a different char. and "use" it on another char. You can't have the same char. "use" and/or receive from it twice, so keep track of who's used it on whom. The Jinni get's all beligerent if you mess that up. You can get traits for 5 char's in a 6 char party up to now(one less than the # of char's in your party).

Next, enter the Town, go to the Inn, and exchange all the char's who've received traits already with "Mules" to accompany the char who DIDN'T get a trait.

Exit the Town, have a "Mule" pick up the Lamp to invoke the Jinni to grant a TRAIT to the last member of your party without a trait.

Have the "Mules" ask for ITEMS(e.g.Sword of Argus) to give to your party members to use, and/or sell for a tidy profit!

When everyone's made a wish, reenter the Town, and regather your party with all their new stuff! (and please don't forget to thank the Jinni) http://www.ironworksforum.com/ubb/no...miles/wink.gif

+Dr.Pick

With my current game this will not work, so I'm guessing that I was originally doing it without the patch! It also seemed different in that I could ONLY "use" the Lamp the first time on the character holding the Lamp, then whoever "used" it after that could only do so on ANOTHER character, not themselves!

Once it was "used" three times it disappeared even if it was transferred into someone else's inventory directly or by picking it up off the ground at any time.

I guess this could be listed in the patch post under "The patch taketh away".

Bummer... +Dr.Pick

Re: BEST TIPS!

In my investigations with the Jinni of the Lamp, I checked to see what he offered since it's not already in this thread. He offers several choices, and the following are those choices with what they actually are so you can make an informed decision. Note that they are not in the same order as the game presents them in the dialog list.

Power: Arm of Argus- increases damage to enemies with hand weapons- amount is unknown.

Ability: +1 to each and EVERY Attribute!

Health: adds 25 hit points to character(good for weaker spell casters)

Ward: Amulet of Argus- AC +2, 20% protection from Fire, Mind, Paralysis, Death, Cold, Poison, Elements, Silence, and Light. Merlin's Shield Spell with 5 charges. Wgt.= 1/2 lb.

Weapon: Sword of Argus- Min. Str.= 12, Dam.= 6-20, Spec. Death Strike, Enchant +2, Hit +2, Tough 75%, wgt.= 10 lbs.

Armor: Chain of Argus- AC 4.80, Tough 75%, Regeneration +1, wgt.= 12 lbs.

Nothing: As far as I could see, that's just what you get.

Pretty impressive list of choices! It's too bad I could only get three this time around. Oh well.

Re: BEST TIPS!

Six choices for three wishes. I went for the Sword, the Armor and I think the Amulet.
+1 to every attribute for only one person is nice but it is too spread around for only a +1 increase.

Dr.Pick 04-25-2010 08:24 PM

Re: BEST TIPS!

In the prepatch days, I always chose the Arm of Argus for each and then swords and armor- some of which I used for fighters and extras were sold.

This time, I chose Ability for my two spell casters who already have high stats and the Amulet for my Gnome(I think). I might have been better off with Health for my Wizard who only had 34 HPs, but I kind of discounted the 25 HPs because it didn't seem like much, but it really is significant to a Pixie spell slinger.

Oh well, they are still quite powerful now, and they've hit level 14, so I'm going to make them Warlocks now.
