Once again, just to annoy me, the level cap expires JUST before u reach level 18 as a wiz.
This means of-course that all those level 9 spells I lovingly scribbled into my spellbook mean precisely..... SQUAT
I realise this is probably old news to most people, but for all those who didn't know......

[btw, this doesn't alter the balance of the game to a great extent--- mainly due to the fact that by the time ur powerful enough to use lv9 spells u will be near the end of the game anyway.......
