I made the mistake of playing online as a first time experience. It's true you can finish in a day (or even less), but you miss out on a lot when you play that fast. I spent a few hours (2 or 3) getting the intellect devourer, but then some people came online. Well, thinking it would be better to join a party, I transferred Leadership so I could travel to the main group. We averaged about 1 hour on each task (some people even went off and did other parts while we did ours). We got the reagents in less than 2 hours all total. Some people also did side quests. It was pretty fun overall though. My character was raising up levels faster than you could blink (ok, maybe not that fast, but still. LOL). After awhile (after restarting), I kinda knew what was going on, so when "newbies" came on, I took them by the hand and started walking them through the game too. Even tossed them some gold or items that I was gathering as duplicates. It's a larger game than people give it credit for. My guess is that they aren't completists. If you go through a level and you just tag and bag what you have to do, it will be a much smaller game. Well, anyway, that's my opinion of the matter. I suggest playing solo first. That way you can concentrate on multi as multi and not storyline.
