Your attempt at the W&W version of SETI does not seem to be working too well. Rather a shame but that is a long term trend. It seems that Neverwinter Nights is now where it is at.

LOL!! Well, I can hope!! ;)

Re: Is there anyone out there???

The problem is that W&W can't be modded like Baldur's Gate games, NWN, Temple of Elemental Evil... Modding really increases the lifespan of a game.
It might be handy to have a sticky message about where you can find copies of the W&W game. Planescape: Torment can be downloaded for a small fee at certain sites. The same might be true for W&W.

I've wanted to play this game for a while but can't find a copy - anyone have a link to a place to buy the game for a decent price?

Re: Is there anyone out there???

I Googled "Wizards & Warriors Download" and got various links. Bear in mind that there is a Gameboy title with the same name, I suspect that it is standard Gameboy not W&W. Google for W&W then check out the links.

Sigh... Computer I had that was able to support W&W has died... So I can't play it anymore :(

Re: Is there anyone out there???

Good idea about trying to find places to get this game.

The tips for getting W&W to work on newer machines used to be quite excellent, but hardware keeps changing so I don't know how useful they are today.

I haven't played it in years - simply don't have the time after Jack was in the hospital for over a year - our lives have changed a lot.

Re: Is there anyone out there???

Sorry to hear that, Wyvern :(

And I'm so busy I probably wouldn't have time to play it, anyway... But it is good to reminisce :)

Re: Is there anyone out there???

Very true!! I have lots of good memories from when I was able to play and this forum was very active!!

These days, I'm busy trying to get another book together, taking care of Jack and getting my son up to his college classes. Given that I'm the only one that drives and able to do most of the stuff around here, I generally have too much to do. My gaming time has been reduced to short casual games - nothing like the old days.

What's the new book about?

Re: Is there anyone out there???

Needle Felting - I got a book published last year titled: "Needle Felting - to the Point" which was about techniques. Unlike most craft books, it wasn't a project book. I used a lot of projects to illustrate the information I was explaining. It was filled with a lot of really good information on the tools, materials and how to work with them. It's doing pretty well.

The second book I want to be on problem solving and may actually include some step by step projects. Currently I'm thinking of doing a woodland fantasy theme for the book. I created this diorama this past week which I might use for some of the photos. I'm in the process of building another diorama and may end up including step by step instructions for building it.

Now if the weather will cooperate, I might make more progress. We have snow (urg) today and the heat in my craft room doesn't work so unlikely I will get a lot done today.

Booo!

Guess you didn't see me coming! But I'm back trying to get W&W working on windows 7. Well, I'm not so much trying any longer than giving up. :(

Hi Willow!!!!

Nice to see you again!!! :)

Sorry to hear that you can't get W&W to work with Windows7 - I haven't even tried!

Re: Is there anyone out there???

You too wyv! It's been too long, and it's all my fault. Funny how life does that to one. ;)

I thought it'd be a piece of cake, install windows 7, install microsoft virtual PC, install windows 98, install W&W --> PLAY! But no :( Still playing around some since I believe it's a directx issue of some kind.

And congrats on getting a book published. That's really impressive! I've only tried needle felting once, making a couple of snowmen from an available kit. Had a great time doing it with the kids.

Wyvern 06-15-2011 01:07 PM

Re: Is there anyone out there???

Hope you manage to get W&W working!! Probably is a directx issue - seemed to often be just that!

Second book on Needle Felting should be out soon - it's such an interesting and versatile craft/art. You can check out some of the things I have done at: http://www.flickr.com/photos/prittens/
While I prefUR to make prittens (pretty kittens) - I've made a lot of other beasties, mostly for classes on CraftEdu.com - I need to get another class made for them soon.

That giraffe is so adorable! Not a big fan of giraffes, but oh my. I think I need to try it once more, if my fingers can stand it. ;)

Re: Is there anyone out there???

Will it even run on Windows 7. I miss the days of playing W&W, now I hardly play PC games at all.

Wyvern 08-14-2011 06:13 AM

Re: Is there anyone out there???

I don't know if it will run on Win7. I really haven't tried. I used to play a fair amount of PC games. Now I really don't have time for it. There also seem to be fewer PC games and more and more games played on the web.
Things change!!

Re: Is there anyone out there???

Yes! I hardly touch PC games these days. The BG series still runs smoothly as most of my older games stopped working long ago and the new PC games are not as good as they used to be story wise. Me I now speand my free time playing board games like Defenders of the Realm. Board Games still work no matter what system you use.

Wyvern 08-15-2011 05:35 PM

Re: Is there anyone out there???

Yes, board games always work!! ;) I certainly wouldn't mind a good PC game, I just don't have much time for "big" games and there haven't been that many released in the last few years that interest me.

Re: Is there anyone out there???

Windows 7 may have a Compatibility Mode for older software, I don't know.

Wyvern 08-18-2011 05:37 PM

Re: Is there anyone out there???

I'm pretty sure Win7 does have a compatibilty mode, but sometimes that isn't enough.
