No such spell exists in W&W. It's a skill, the "Artifacts" skill. You can learn it in the Temple and in the Mages Guild. In Both cases, it's the guild level 3 skill and it's available to everyone.
You will need the "Ancient Lore" trait first. Warlocks get the trait when they become warlocks. The others must buy the trait in the Temple or in the Mages Guild. Again, it's the guild level 3 trait and it's available to everyone.

The skill level of the Artifacts skill dtermines, what you can successfuly identify. You will need Artifacts 6 for identifying everything in the Valeia region, Artifacts 7 for Ishad N'Ha and Artifact 12 for Brimloch Roon.

Thanks

Game may be more fun if it was available earlier

Does Id make difference to selling price and use of items?

Radek 03-18-2005 06:45 AM

Selling items: yes. The identify cost will be deduced from the offered price so that you will get less money for unidentified items.
Use: no. You can use unidentified items. The items will lose nothing from their abilities.

It's actually a good idea to have the different questions in different threads. If someone goes searching for these topics they'll find their answers sooner! :D

Most games have a delay prior to your characters obtaining a means of identifying objects. How soon that can be achieved varies.
One good tip is to put unidentified items of a similar nature into just one character's backpack (all swords that look the same in one backpack, all potions blah blah blah). IF they are the same item, getting one identified will identify the rest as well (as long as they are all in the same backpack - sorry harp mode! lol!)

Actually, you can start identifying fairly early. Your clerics can get up to Temple level 3 in Valeia with three fairly easy quests, so you can start there.

For selling, you'll notice that an unidentified item sells for half its identified price. Curiously, the cost to identify is also equal to half the identified price. So whether you sell it unidentified or identified, you get the same amount, right?

Well, that's true if you only identify one thing. As Wyvern said, if you put three things into the same backpack, when you identify one, you identify all three. So you make more money on the second and third ones. Definitely a reason to identify things, especially in the early game.

Also, for things that stack in your inventory (arrows, certain potions, darts, etc.), if you keep one of them identified, you'll automatically identify any others when you pick them up. Quite a handy trick that... I routinely have all those stackable items on the same character, and he's the one who runs around picking up the leftover arrows, knives, and potions after a battle.

And I'll echo that I prefer to see new questions in new posts! Makes it easier to keep track of them
