Re: Special Invitation to Google Earth Locations
I thought Google Earth was free? Or is this some kinda pro version or beta of the "new locations"?

Re: Special Invitation to Google Earth Locations
Never heard of any programing company based in Panama. And the constant repetition of your "Earth Code" seems a little suspicious to me. Though if this is a scam, it's the best grammar and spelling I've seen in one.

Re: Special Invitation to Google Earth Locations
It's probably an attempt to make money off Google's work (by gaining traffic) at best, or an attempt to peddle malware at worst (by offering 'tweaked' version of Google Earth).
You might want to edit out the links. |
Re: Special Invitation to Google Earth Locations
Scam sniffer on high alert...
Googling for "google earth locations" provides a number of hits, most related to collections of locations from Google Earth. Nothing related to this particular venture. Googling for "netgweekly" and "netgweekly.com" provides abso-flinkin'-lutely nothing... no entries anywhere. Checking Whois for netgweekly.com provides just a protected registration. Feel free to examine... but have your spy/mal/bloatware sensors on high, and make sure your antivirus is up to date. And keep both hands on your wallet... which would, of course, prevent you from accessing the mouse or keyboard ;) Unless you're really, really talented.... |

Re: Special Invitation to Google Earth Locations
I wouldn't worry about it too much yet... like FSA said, it's one of the best written and most grammatically correct messages I've seen. And the repetition of the link just strikes me as common email sales technique - a lot of the reputable people I get email communications from will do that with their offers. That way, at whatever point you've decided you want to find out more, you can easily do it.
Most people don't do the kind of sniffing around that I do, so they don't get much beyond the surface. Hey, prove it to yourself... at your next gathering, see how many people know what whois is, or what a domain lookup is.... just don't be surprised if they all start to give you a little more room ;) |
