I need your help...

I've been busily working on some mini-mods to demonstrate some of the priority 9 bugs and have kind of hit a block - I can't recreate the bugs for the graphics error bugs.

The two bugs are
1647583 - graphics error in transfer module event
1929170 - Using 'Fix' in camp causes a 'General Graphics Error'

I have tried on an XP machine (3.2GHz, 1.5GB RAM) and a Server 2003 machine (2.0 GHz, 512MB RAM) using version .914 on the XP and.914005 on both.

Can someone else please give these two a try A.S.A.P. and report back? It would be greatly appreciated. :) These bugs are (more) fully explained in the Bug Tracker at SourceForge.ne.

I know this bug from 0.913 and will try to recreate it in 0.914 tonight. It says "GENERAL GRAPHICS ERROR" after the transport, even if the picture was correctly loaded, if I remember correctly...

Re: I need your help...

I never got this bug - Tarlanon posted it. It may have been that I never had tried a small pic with a transfer mod event, I don't know. His bug was posted after .914 came out, so I would think that he was using the latest version, being one of the developers and all. :D:D:D

But, the other bug was posted right before .914 came out, so it could have been fixed in the new version (I assume unintentionally since the bug was not closed).

I appreciate any feedback you can give me, Dinonykos. When you post your results, could you please include what version of Windows, and the processor speed and RAM of your computer. Oh, and if you know it (or how to find out), could you let me know what version of DirectX? Thanks a bunch. :ninjas:

I have tried to reproduce the transfer module small pic bug with 0.914 on Windows ME (yep, I know it is the worst Windows ever... :) ) with an Intel Celeron and could not reproduce it (also not with sprites nor with big pics). However, I am still sure that I have recognized this bug several times in the Helmetlands design, thus I will try tomorrow with my other computer and 0.913.

Is it possible for you test Helmetlands with .914? It may be an issue with .913 and earlier (fingers crossed).

ME wasn't great, but it was better than 98SE, unless you were online all the time, and then it let stuff through it's "firewall", and I sue that term loosely. :D:D:D I also thought that ME was better than 95.

I should rather say, I shall find the conditions under which this bug occurs in helmetlands in 0.913. I think it did not happen with every transfer involving a small pic... Maybe it is related to something additional apart from picture-type.

Re: I need your help...

I suspect that there is something more to it than small pictures, per se. I cannot recreate this bug, Nd believe me, I've been trying, as I feel that graphics errors are something that will scare new users away - much more so than certain game mechanics not working properly.

I have not tried with an animated small pic (which only just now occurred to me) so I will try that, but I am going to demote these bugs from priority 9 to priority 7 until (if ever) I can get a working example of the bug in version .914. I guess if enough time goes by and/or other people report not being able to recreate the bug, I will close the bugs.

Incidentally Dinonykos, why are you using .913 to design Helmetlands? I'm just curious. :D
I'm one of those people that when the new version of DC comes out, I open all of my old designs and save them in the new one to take advantage of the newest and niftiest features and bug fixes. :D:D:D

I also thought last night that the bug may be related to animated pics after replaying half of the Helmetlands design and not finding it... :) I will keep on searching (along with playtesting...)

There's no particular reason, I have simply not yet installed the newest version on my laptop where Helmetlands is positioned... :D
Since a lot of bug fixes are related to combat and magic, they do not affect my design significantly... I installed 0.914 on my wife's computer mainly for "The City"...

And I guess the latest art isn't as big of a draw for you since you're doing the art yourself. :)

I haven't had a chance to test animated pics yet, but I've done more thorough testing of all other types of graphics and no error.

I think I remembered where I got that error. It's quite late in the "Helmetlands"-Scenario, but I should find it today... :D
