the most awesome character I've had was a dualed Kensai/mage (current, playing Tob).
I don't know if this is obvious to everyone, but as a kensai cant have armour anyway, and a mage can't cast in armour, kensai/mage is the best fighter/mage combo. My character is Kensai(8)/Mage(24), dual wielding Celestial Fury and Dak'Kon's Zerth Blade with 4* on katana and 3* on dual wielding. another little exploit is even though Kensais can't have armour, a Kensai/mage can have Robe of the Arch-magi (AC5 & MR 5%). He also has Wong Fei's Ioun Stone, Amulet of power and Ring of Wizardry, Ring of Protection +2, Boots of Speed and a few other bits.

This all means he can cast spells with the best of them, or rush in and blitz in melee. Being a Kensai with high dex also means he has a pretty decent armour class when added to the RoP+2 and Archmagi robe.

Oh and his name is Rahvin, one of the Forsaken in Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time series :o )

I've enjoyed all my characters but my favorite was probably my dwarf beserker who I very fortunatly rolled 18/00 strength for I nearly died when I saw that as you can imagine. Here were his stats-

Str 18/00
dex 17
con 19
int 10
wis 10
char 10

As you can imagine with stats like these he was the best melee warrior possible even better than the mighty Korgan.

damn its rare to roll a 18/00 strenght, and you got especially ending up with all the stats over 10

I've always wondered, what is the no. after 18 in the strength section? Like 18/88. What does the second number mean? I was under the impression it improve the strength, but I guess I am wrong since 18/00 seems to be better.

You were right Slicer. The percentile does improve strenght, but 00 = 100, not 0. The tables in the back of the book give more detail on what the bonuses are.

The best character that I ever played yet was my first, a dwarven beserker named

MABAX. Can't recall his exact stats and my computer crashed out and I lost all my saved games(waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa).
He attained almost god like stature when armed in his offhand crom fayer and the axe of the unyielding as his main weapon.
I sent him in against the dragon boss in ToB and beat that dragon into a pile of burger. Hoo waa.

Playing a paladin cavalier right now that does show some potential however, but he'll still never be the same as my first( wiping tears from the corners of my eyes).

one thing I've always loved about the BG series was the documentation and other goodies in the box, like the lovely maps. Any time I ever create a character I'm always looking in the tables in the back of the manual to see how to best spend my stat points after maxing the prime stat, or what race has the best bonuses for the theif I want to try, or what class can use the weapons I want to use this go-around (I try not to always use Crom-feyer, Carsomyr, Flail of Ages EVERY GAME)

anyway, many times on many forums have I used BG as an example of how games companies can encourage people away from piracy.

I love my custom pure half-orc party. They might be hosed in the magic section, but it's just so fun seeing them chop a dragon to pieces in no times flat.

The Kensai/Mage is an old, old trick, although you should have at least waited until level 9, to get that extra * in Katata It comes in *very* useful when you use the improved grandmastery patches out there

This might sound boring, but i'm playing a pure-classed fighter at the moment and this guy fraggin' tonks.

Ecthelion (Gothmog's Bane for those of you who know ;) )

STR - 18/95
DEX - 18
CON - 18
INT - 10
WIS - 10
CHA - 11

For raw blitzkrieg power, though, I can't go past the sorceror.
