I have recently bought BGII and am loving it. HOwever my PC (running well above spec) runs the game very jerkily. I think the cause is windows XP because I have tried running the game on the minimum possible settings but with no luck.

Can anyone help.

Confirm for yourself that you have your PC running adequately (latest drivers andsuch) and the latest BGII patches. Check the welcomed new user thread on this page for links.

Provide us with the specs of your computer, maybe we'll find something.

Thanks that was fast.

It'll be a few days before I get back on that because I will be away.

I play it on WinXp and it is OK.
(Well, I do have 1GHz Duron and 256RAM...)

Welcome to the forum.

Im running a 1.2GHz AMD with 512MB RAM
64MB Graphics accelerator (Can't remember the make)

it could be your config stuff

try configuring your bg2 video card options. do not make your pc specs in the config to the best or max (located in basic ---> hardware) . put it for a normal pc and on all specification.

if this is not the problem im also stumped

i think you have the 3D accelerator option checked, but youre graphics card doesnt support it. i have a brand new AMD Athlon 1.7 GHZ processor, 256MB RAM(random accsess memory)and also a brand new MSI mother board. my graphics card is a NVidia Geforce 2 MX/400 with 64MB memory, and still it runs jerkily with the 3D accelerator on. perhaps my openGL options are messed up or something. anyway, try putting the 3D accelerator option off.

Thanks, that worked.

I had tried running the game at min (for a 233MHz) and it did not help, but I mised the check box for the 3D acceleration.

I'm off now to enjoy the rest of the game
