I can't seem to enable the cheats. Unfortunately, I'm missing an important game item, and I need to enable them or I can't finish. I've tried entering "Debug Mode=1" in my Baldur.ini file, but I can't get a console to open. I'm running the Macintosh version of BGII; is the cheat enabler different on Macs?
Thanks, Absalom |
I am not sure about Mac.
On PC, though, your baldur.ini should look like this: [Program Options] Debug Mode=1 Installing=0 ... |
Welcome to the forum!
Check this site. I believe this is for Mac. It is the same procedure as for PC, though. |
Make sure you are running v1.1.1 (updates available from Versiontracker.com).
Make sure the Debug Mode=1 line is in your PROGRAM OPTIONS section, as mentioned above. Hit CONTROL-SPACE. I do find this sometimes doesn't work right after a load, but click a charcter and have them walk 2' and then try again. |
I'm running BG:SOA v 1.1.1, and I have "Debug Mode=1" and "Installing=0" under [Program Options] in the .ini file, but no console yet.
When I hit CTRL-Space, the game just pauses; when I hit Ctrl-Tab, which supposedly will also bring up the console, the game just displays my group's current HP. I've also tried Command (Apple)-Space and Command-Tab, but no luck. Thanks for your help, Absalom |
Well, it is actually pretty tricky to get the console appear. Just try over and over with CTRL+Space, and it should appear a little, tiny window at the bottom of the screen, where you can write things in.
Also, you could try to put 'Debug Mode=1' under [Game Options] as well. I can't tell if this helps or not, because I have it written in under both subsections. [img]smile.gif[/img] |
Try make your baldur.ini look like this:
[Program Options] Debug Mode=1 Cheats=1 ... ... [Game Options] Debug Mode=1 Cheats=1 ... (Installing=0 has nothing to do with the console) |
You must HOLD CTRL while you press the spacebar.

I figured it out! The texzt editor I was using was adding invisible formatting characters to the .ini file. I re-edited it with an HTML editor, and got the console to appear.
Thank you, everyone who had suggestions... -Absalom |
