I'm creating my whole party and I have 5 characters, but I don't know what class I should pick for my 6th spot. I am debating on an archer, monk, a bard, or a barbarian. What do you think I should pick for the remaining character?

Well, that depends. What other classes are in your party? It is kind of necessary for us to know. ;)

The other 5 in my party are 2-fighter, a cleric, thief, and a sorcerer.

Then I'd say an Archer. They are devils with Ranged weapons, and there are many times in the game where ranged is better than melee. Give him profs in both Long Bows and Short Bows. Long Bows because the majority of good Bows in the game are Long, Short Bows because of Short Bow of Gesen and Tansheron. ;)

You could also go for a Bard. A Blade, to be more specific. It gives you a third tank with two lovely abilities, as well as a spellcasting one. ;)

A Monk would also suit well, to get a third tank. You already have two pure warriors, so a Monk is better than a Barbarian when it comes to a third tank.
The Monk's ability to fight without weapons is very good at the beginning of the game, as well at the end. ;)

Leave the spot open, and pick up NPC's as you go. It allows you wiggle room to do more in quests. You can always drop NPC's as you tire of them.

But if you want to make your own 6th character, with two fighters you have enough to block doorways, etc while the spellcasters do their thing. I would add a multiclass cleric/magicuser to your party.

From the options you suggested, i would say the Bard. As Sir Exxon pointed out - pick the Blade kit.

Your Blade can serve as an excellent cannon fodder, protected by Blur, Mirror Image, Stoneskin, PfMW and Defensive Spin while your Fighters flank and havoc the busy enemy.

If i were you, though, i would take a Fighter/Mage (multi or dual, whichever you prefer) instead of the Blade. Same function, but more powerful IMO.

But Blades can sing! Pickpocket, identify items with their eyes closed, and with ToB installed, lay cheesy traps.

Oh, rest assured, sir, i know the merits of the Blade kit quite well. ;)

Mental battles between Fighter/Mages and Bards (namely Blades) are fun - but i always find the Fighter/Mage superior in the end.

So, I think it will be a bard or an archer. I will read up and decide. Thanks for the advice.
