I'm sure parts of it are and parts aren't - so if you think some aspects of Weimer's ease of use mod are cheating please be specific.

I installed VERY limited parts of it - 'cause I try not to Cheese out (though I do love to eat cheese). The two parts I installed that are possibly questionable are:

Stackable arrows/bullets/ etc. - cause, look, I'm on my second time thru, I've played BGI - and I have inventory management mastered - I just don't like the waste of time.

Use magic rings + armor - cause dammit that's the way the rules are in D&D.

Any thoughts on these folks?

Hey Timber! Good to see ya over here.

Personally, I installed ALL components of the Ease of Use Mod. I was primarily interested in the two components you spoke of (especially allowing rings AND cloaks of protection to work together)

But I also like the Exp Cap Remover, Happy Party, Concurrent Romances, Romance patches, etc etc etc.

Are these components cheesy or cheating?? I honostly don't care. I enjoy the game more with these components installed and that's all that matters.

Have fun and enjoy the game. :D

I had a look after my recent install and too much of it seemed like cheating to me. I use an XPcap remover anyway, but the happy party/romance stuff and stackable items are the ones that really put me off.

Using rings+ magic armour is an odd one as some rings can be used (eg Gaxx) and I use Item UPgrade mod which allows this for the "new" items IIRC.

I think that Magical Items isn't cheating. And Stackable ammunition is just making it easier to manage inventories (and play the game!)

All of it is cheating. BUT, if it`s a repeat-play, it is justified cheating. These mods (like all mods) are there for one sole reason - to make the game replayable.

I'd say whatever mod lets you stack a Drow -4 Plate with a Ring of Protection +3 and Improved Cloak of Protection +2, is cheating, since it makes the game considerably less challenging and your own character a lot more powerful.

However, most other components of that mod seem like harmless tweaks to make the inventory more managable and the game in general less frustrating to play, which is perfectly fine with me.

I do not consider the Boot self-made character a cheat.

I decided not to install any of the Ease-of-Use components that either seriously affected the game, or seemed unrealistic. So, I didn't install the "Wear magic Armor and magic Rings" or the "Happy Group," but I did install things like the Bottomless Bag of Holding. I also installed the Rebalanced Shapeshifter, and am STILL trying to get that damn thing off my system. (Uninstalling it did NOT uninstall it, and it messed up my DIALOG.TLK file, to boot. The 'Conjure Animals' spell still results in Greater Bearweres, except now they're called "Rings of Preservation+1.")
