This is my 3rd time through SoA, and i just finished the Beholder Lair in the Underdark. I didnt find the Dragon's Breath Halberd that im supposed to get, and in the first room i got an elder orb eyestalk. Can someone remind what that eyestalk is for? And was there some kind of quest that goes along with the lair. I thought there was, but i cant remember what it was.

Erm, You don't get the Dragon's breath halberd in the beholder lair.

You loot it from a hostile party of adventurers that attack you shortly after you are turned into drow by Adalon.

And the eyestalk is one out of three possibilities to solve Ardulace's Blood of the Elder quest (inside the city of Ust Natha).

Besides that the beholder lair is a strangely unrewarding dungeon. Surely you can venture further into it, but all you'll find is more beholders a few drow and some illithids. No treasures to be found except at the very entrance (and some drow equipment, which you'll probably allready have heaps of, so meh).

The dungeon also holds the blade of the equalizer and a pile of gold and gems hidden in a wall cache somewhere

Well, apart from the gems that Olorin mentioned, I recall finding a decent Amulet and a very nice Sling in there.
