While being stuck in hell/ Bhaal's plane after killing Irenicus, I can't rest or save the game because I'm in "dialogue mode". Outside of that plane, this guy in a green robe teleports around, following my party. His name is Machior Harpell, and I can't initiate dialogue, and if I attack him, he takes damage, but doesn't die. (I summoned an earth elemental, a fire elemental and a lion and had my entire party batter him for five minutes)

Now, I've got 3 of the five tears of Bhaal, and my party is well eqipped to get the other two, but I just know that when I open that abyssal gate, Irenicus is going to be far harder to kill, this time round, then when I kicked his sorry arse first time round.

I remember hearing something about this before. There is no way to deal with this bug, as far as I know. It involves a new game, while the bug itself is something to do with attacking the druid grove, without having Jaheria in your party.

Any advice?

Machior Harpell is supposed to be unkillable I think. He's the guy that apparently comes to take back all Dritz equipment from you. He's obviously supposed to talk to you it seems though I've never come across him so I can only say what I've heard. Why he isnt actually talking to you I dont know, but you can never save games while an NPC is trying to talk to you... so it looks like you're stuffed. My advice would be to go back to an earlier save and ta;l to the guy. be warned... you loose the equipment you got from Drizzt.
There might be something else you can do, but I dont know it

Melchor Harpell is/was a good Friend of Drizzt, you have killed him and robed him and his party members of there items, he is here to take them back... He is Unkillable... if you do not have any patches installed, you could kill him with the Mage/Sorc. Combo TimeStop---->Shapechange----->Mind Flyer.. with 3 or 4 hits of a Mind Flyer (Illithid) he should go down due to the Intelligence drain those Critters have as special attack ability.

If you do not have any patches installed... I urge you to do so.. it could help you with this bug that you are encountering.

I found Irenicus rather weak compared to the other battles I have fought against him... most of the time he stands pretty motionless in the battle.. his pathetic Demon friends are nothing compared with all the Scum you have encounterd in Fearun.

It's a pretty easy battle if you know what you are doing... ;)

Killing him wont do a thing, he'll respawn again

If you don't have any patches installed he will not IIRC. the same with Arakanis Gath.

The Baldurash fixpack fixes this IIRC.

anyway if i understood your story correctly and nothing else works theres always the possibility of cluaing yourself out of hell and to above ground where melchior is. and talk to him n lett him take back drizzts equipment.

then teleporting back in hell.....rest and continue your quest for the tears.

Hmm..... did you CLUA in the items from Drizzt or something? I was under the impression that he normally appeared right after leaving Bodhi's Lair the 2nd time. If he seems to not wanting to talk, it may be that Dialog.TLK got corrupted, warranting a re-install. If you export your save game (Copy and Paste the folder from the save file) and re-install, that may solve the problem. I had a similar problem with Pimlico's door not being unlocked and Edwin not being able to get the Nether scroll. Simply re-installed and the problem was gone [img]smile.gif[/img]

dude I just pasted it from someone elses. I wouldnt know how to spell it, I havent even met the guy (why would you kill drizzt you animals ?). I was just passing on what I'd heard to a guy in need.

btw. since when did anyone on this forum worry about spelling standards ?
