can anyone tell me how to effectively deal with vampires???
As it stands ive given nalia the amulet of power which means she cant be level drained- but my fighters get drained badly...Any help? Also , how does the Shield Amulet work? (or amulet shield ,i dont remember the name right now..) |
Well the best way is:
Buy Azuredge-Bernard in Copper Coronet Forge Mace of Disruption+2 |
Please do not resort to the spoilers below unless you really have to. its not even nearly as much fun to use possible cheese than to come up with the tactics yourself. you have been warned
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * well, you could have your priest cast Negative plane protection on your figther(s), though watch out(!), it has a mighty short duration. so make sure your priest can cast it multiple times. i would recommend casting it on your primary tank and sending him to fight the vamps alone in melee and having the rest of the party cast spells and shoot with ranged weapons. Azuredge is a very anti-vampire weapon, since its a ranged AND melee weapon. combine that with greater malison and doom to make vampires cry. also, if you want to use more cheese, use a protection from undead scroll, though i do not recommend that since it takes the fun out of the battles. |
vampires = lvl drain = nasty
counter-measures: descending by usefulness 1.)Mace of disruption +2: immunity from lvl drain and better slaying possibilities 2.)Negative Plane Protection: lvl4 Priest Spell makes you immune to level drain 3.)Amulet of power -> tank - Use it on a cleric or druid with decent THAC0 (i.e. Anomen, Jaheira,...) 4.)Azuredge: mighty against undead and ranged if you want 5.)Sunray: priest spell or equipped on a certain sword makes the undead cry 6.)Mace of disruption +1: no protection from lvl drain but possibility of slaying undead immediately 7.)Use a (very) high lvl cleric to turn undead 8.)Only use ranged weapons when you encounter vampires. Run away with one party member and keep firing with the others 9.)Have very decent AC for your foremost tanks so you don't get hit (=don't get drained) easily and kill the vamps fast. Oh and cast Protection From Magical Weapons if you have it. Same with the brain suckers

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * or better yet side with the vamps then you hardly have to fight any |
im still unsure how the turn undead option works...how close do i have to be to the undead creature?
Thanks for all the vampire tips to everyone |
In range...vut a HIGH LEVEL-18+

You don't have to be in melee range but pretty close about the range of a throwing weapon (dart, axe, hammer NOT ranged weapon like Sling, Bow,...)
Good Clerics will turn undead (i.e. make them run away) or destroy them (if they have high enough level) Bad Clerics will turn them or make them fight for your party (green circles). Success depends on the level of your cleric and the level of the undead (Skeleton=easy, Lich=nearly impossible) Also you have to leave the turn undead option on until you have turned (unlike IWD2 where you use it like a spell). So be sure to turn off party AI because that way your clerics will turn off TU and engage in combat (smae for Bards playing songs) |
