You know, I never bought the real illithium. A long time ago, I finished that quest with the fake stuff, and never bought the real ore. Now I would like to upgrade the mace of disruption, but the ore merchant has long since stopped talking, and I forget the name of the person who sells the illithium. Who is it, and can I still buy it? Or do I have to go through the ore merchant, in which case I guess I can't get it anymore?

The ore merchant does not have the pure illithum, she directs you to a dwarf who may have some. However if you have already taken the non-pure illitium without asking for her source first than I think you will not be able to get the pure illitium.
