I have got the idol and armer but Ulcaster never gave me no sword. Why oh why.
Am going to kill him and see if he has the sword on his dead dead body.

Good luck--Ulcaster is apparently invincible. I've heard varying stories on whether or not he gives you a sword....all I know for sure is that it never worked for me. It might happen only if you have ToSC. The sword doesn't even exist in my game--can't hack it in with the CLUA console or even Gatekeeper.

What? Who? Where? Why? People, please tell me that I know what you're talking about (and I don't). Where exactly is this in the game?

I mean, when I said that I was actually playing BG, I think I must of meant that I saw it once. In a shop. Nowhere near where I live. At all. Or even in this country. Ever. Lord Brass, the sword in question is apparently a ToSC item. I heard this story: "Hey, you know the Idol that's in the Archaeological Dig quest? Keep it. You know the Ancient Armor that's in the Ghost Knight quest? Don't give it to the Ghost Knights, keep it. Give both items to Ulcaster and he'll give you a Vampric Sword."
So I tried it. I tried having them in my Inventory when I gave Ulcaster his book, I tried talking to him without the book, I tried attacking him, pickpocketing him, nothing. I dismissed it as a rumor, and took the Armor back to its rightful(?) owners.

But, since Ertai says he's got it, it must be in ToSC. But don't feel bad about missing out on a cool item, as it's definitely NOT one of the better weapons in the game.

what does the vampiric sword do?
i can place it my characters inventory file with gatekeeper but in the game it is just a blank occupied square!?

It's a ToSC item. Gatekeeper can kinda fake the sword into place, but unless you've installed ToSC, the game doesn't know what it looks like or what its properties are.
