how can i defeat gaxx the demilich? and why when its using his demilich howl (imprisoment) on my main char the game crash?

How to kill him...


1)You need a +4 weapon->Flame Toungue +1 from Trademeet does wonders,becuase it`s +4 enchanted Vs. Undead

which patches/mods have you installed?
are you talking improved Gaxx or standard Gaxx?
Anyhow:
Demilich form only to whack with +4 weapons or better which are
Staff of Rynn, Carsomyr, Wave, Crom Faeyr, Staff of the Magi, Warblade (I think that's about it) in unmodified game.
Spells won't work but the Ring of the Ram will.
An to get rid of the imprisonement either use Xen's sugesstions or summon cannon fodder.

Ring of the Ram does the most damage to him - if you have 2 of them cos you are a sneaky pickpocket that makes things even easier. Fire Elementals and Aerial Servants do damage to him, but you have to summon them after he transforms cos he dispells everything else when the Demilich arises.

<font color="gold">Having a Mage or Sorcerer with Melf's Minute Meteors also does wonders, as they have a +6 enchantment. ;)
Also, the Mace of Disruption +2 is undoubtedly the best weapon versus Kangaxx. Just letting you know. ;)

well, I think it's more of a problem protecting your party from Kangaxx's rapid imprisonment spells than damaging him. I mean the whole party or at least some important ones...PC of course (what if he isn't a berserker to enrage nor a mage/sorcerer to cast spell immunity on himself?), and then the love interest, iirc, imprisonment will break the romance. if you play a solo sorc / mage or berserker / mage I can see it as an esay enough fight...but go in with a group of 6...that's tough === you cannot get everyone protected.

anyway...I always beat him with the green scroll of protection from magic (don't need to be too fantasy a weapon, cut throat, after killing Bodhi, will get the job done) for I absolutely HATE imprisonment~_*

What I did was to beat his first form to almost dead, then ran my characters without haste/boots of speed away, then killed him. I was able to go up the stairs, then go back down after using 2 protection from magic scrolls + spell trap, you can get the scrolls from the advernturest (thats my best guess) market.

When I went down the stairs, the party was arranged so the protected ones were the nearest ones to Krangaxx, all I had to do was keep the unprotected ones away from him, and voila! No PCs imprisioned, no romances broken, no Mazzys acting buggy after you cast freedom...

one protection from magic scroll (green) is enough.

the last time I beat him, I have Mazzy with protection from magic and killed him with cut throat (the standard Kangaxx of course who will just focus on the one who keeps attacking him).

AFAIK, beating Kangaxx with green scroll of protection from magic is considered "cheesy" by many...but to me, to fight him with a party of six (keeping romance), that's the surest way to go (btw, if enrage and spell immuity can block out imprisonment completely, why aren't they considered "cheesy"?)

pre-fully patched ToB, there was some interesting bugs fighting the demi-lich in WK. First off, even Mazzy got imprisoned, she continued to do damage to the demi-lich....and then, you can kill one demi-lich after another...each of them worths 55000 XP...mewo, sometimes it will like cast simulcra and you will need to fight two demi-liches at the same time~~

The best way to fight Kangaxx, I'd say, is when you're in your higher levels. I didn't fight him until I got out of the Underdark, and with Jan setting up an Exploding Trap and a few snares, his first form fell immedaitely. As for his Demi-Lich form, Berserker Rage (or any rage) won't protect you against his Imprisonment, I've already tried it. Best way to go about it is to be under the effect of Spell Immunity:Abujuration and attack with either +4/+5 weapons (MoD, MMM, Holy Avenger, Ring of the Ram, The Equalizer, Crom Faeyr, so forth). If you don't have any Spell Immunity scrolls and are looking to end the fight quickly, only other option is to go Slayer.

Beserker rage does protect from imprisionment, as I killed Kangaxx and the other demi lich using it with my beserker. However barbarian rage doesn't.
