Is it possible to beat him without the help of the crazy people?

True_Moose 09-03-2003 07:22 PM

<font color="orange">Yep. It is slightly tougher though.</font>

Actually, I'm sure that you have to enlist the help of the madmen to beat him.

I tried to fight him without the help once...it was a slaughter...then I read somewhere we MUST seek help, otherwise we'll all die no matter how many times we try to fight Irenicus alone. never try again~~

<font color="orange">Technically, you have to recruit them, sure. But you can still take him alone. Not to mention they have a nasty habit of dying .

Question: If I say, unleash a pit fiend/skulltraps/fireballs, whatever during the tour, and kill the inmates, what will happen when the time comes to fight Jon-Bon?</font>

well, I think their help is something decided in the script/story. I'm pretty much sure that without their help, we can beat Irenicus just as easily, as you say, they die pretty quickly. quite frequently, they all die before Irenicus flees.

Never try this before@"@ have you tried doing this? I think, they may die, but will still appear when you get out of the maze because it's written in the script (just like I always manage to kill Saemon before we sink into Sahuagin City, but the narration would always say that he flees (and we certainly meet again later). Or, maybe they'll get together to fight you when they get hurt, and you die no matter what you do^_*

<font color=white> This is also a scripted feature, you can't prevent them from dying; and I haven't found a way to prevent them from helping you .. its in the script so. </font>

Simple enough. Do not talk to Lonk the Sane.

I've only tried to fight Irenicus without the loonies once, and as soon as he saw us he initiated a conversation, and my entire party died instantly, thanks to a scripted Wish on Irenicus's part: PC and party die, no check for MR, Saves, or immunities. How nice. I haven't bother to try for a repeat of that since.

In my experience, if you turn any of the inmates (or Lonk) Hostile before Coordinator/Irenicus shows his true colors, they attack you and Irenicus never reveals himself. This is odd, because I find the quickest way to make Irenicus appear is to pickpocket Lonk.

Am i correct when i say that the crazies are killed by an "Death Spell"?
I think i once tried to cast death ward on one or a few of them, and they survived... O_o
