Hello everybody!... plz be nice to me, this is my first post... I've been reading the other treads but I don't find the answer to my question. My character has reached the XP cap, but I don't have any 8 and 9 level spells slots, is this a bug?, did I miss something?, how can I fix this?

someone wiser than me will be along in a minute (and will know how to do the wavey greeting!) but in the meantime it will help them to tell us your character's: class, race & level and the type of install you have (SoA only, TOB, pathc, fixpacks etc.)

Thank you Armen for your very quick answer. I'm sorry I forgot such "minor details". I'm playing at the moment SoA, my character is a Half-elve, female, mage. I have no patches installed, just debug mode=1 hehehehe, but I don't think this will solve my problem!... about the level, it sounds sad, but I don't remember exactly, I think it is 17, but my XP has reached its highest!, so if my Mage has reachest its highest XP, but not it highest level, what is the problem?... As for you not being able to cast any level 9 spells. One thing is that you're only level 17 (and with the Throne of Bhaal expansion pack can become level 40!). Even if you're with a party of six you can bump into the Shadows of Amn XP limit, because there are so many quests to be done and so much XP to be earned.
IF this is not the problem, then it could be a bug (but I'm a n00b at identifying them). Nevertheless it's a good idea to install the patch and the Baldurdash fixpack, because they WILL help you out when you're in trouble because of a bug.

Welcome to the Ironworks Alaina. I'm not 100% sure but I don't think you can cast level nine spells without having Throne of Bhaal installed. Do you not have it?

six of spades' guide from the forum FAQ tells us that you need to be level 18 to get level 9 spells - have to wait until you get T-B i'm afraid

or use a proper XP cap remover :D
in plain SoA lvl9 spells can only be cast from scrolls (so save them for the tough battles)

okay in Level 17 your highest spells are Lvl 8. And I don´t think that only owner of TOB can use Lvl 9, regardless that won´t be an explanation why you can´t use lvl 8 spells.

What is your intelligence-stat ? You´ll need more than 16 to use lvl 8 spells, and 18 for lvl 9.

Actually you don`t. AFAIK this rule was never implented into BG II. Imoen has 17 INT but she can cast 9 level spells.
