I like maces as a weapon, and would like to use them with my ranger/cleric but it seems that there aren't too many nice ones around. The mace of disruption is of course nice versus undead, but I could only one +3 mace, the skullcrusher. Am I missing any here?

The selection of maces in SOA is pretty disappointing. If my PC is a cleric type character I go straight for flails for FOA. Secondary advantage is that there are some interesting morningstars which the same proficiency covers :D

Party wise I give Anomen a +2 mace (until Skullcrusher) and Aerie gets the Mauler's Arm.

Only other non-standard maces in SOA I can think of are Ardulia's Fall (+1) and Jerrod's Mace (+2)

Hmmm, it's been awhile since I've gone through the game but since the game lacks the more powerful maces, I'd try out the Items Upgrade mod.

The game does not lack powerful maces, it has too many other good weapons :D
The Maces (especially Skullcrusher) are fine but if you compare them to Crom Faeyr of course they suck. You get similar problems with Scimitars (lest you loot Drizzt) or Crossbows. This gets a little better in ToB but Maces are still not very present. Other weapon classes have too powerful items available too early (Sling of Everard is the best Sling in the game including ToB) making you choose them over more interesting weapons.

<span style="color: lightblue">Mace of Disruption +2. Always +5 enchanted... one creature in SOA that it can't hit, and there's no real benifit to fighting them anyway. Put in TOB, one additional creature type which you only have to fight one or two of (IIRC). And you can get it as early as Chapter 3.

SOA has a lack of good maces and clubs. While I can understand the lack of good clubs (after all a mace is basically an improved club), the lack of good maces has always bothered me.

I agree with Kezardin, if you have a cleric character go for flails. The FOA is one of the best weapons in the game, heck I even use it with my Palidans, and they have access to some really good weapons of their own.

What creature is this? I thougth that everything upto and including the lesser demon lord was vulnerable to a +5 weapon?

The creature type he's talking about concerning ToB is probably Magic Golems. They can only be hit by non-enchanted weapons --> as the Mace of Disruption is enchanted you cannot use it against them.

The creature type from Shadows of Amn is one of the golem types. I'm not going to say which one (Clay ? :1ponder) because I'm not sure about that one.

Dundee Slaytern 09-29-2003 01:14 AM

It's ain't a Golem. ;)

Oh hang on, are we going on the "Alson-Carsomyr-Firkraag" tour again? Then it's not one creature, you know ;)
