I was only wodering if there is a way anywhere in the game to raise my elven dex of 20 to 21 so i get a lower ac?
just asking...if not, elven extra dex is very unneeded...or am i missing something?

in most of the temples in the city are blue potions, potions of mind focus...each gulp will increase dex by 3, as well as intelligence...best of all the effect lasts for 8 hours or until dispelled...

the increased dex, and intelligence and long duration makes them perfect for mindflayer hunting...

also, if you run out of potions of master thievery, which is much harder to find, drink potions of mind focus...raising dex to 25 improves thief skills considerably...

i think u misunderstood, i meant PERMANENTLY...i heard about some machine..but canīt recall...

Userunfriendly 10-11-2003 06:31 PM

oh yes...the machine of lum the mad in watchers keep...tough place, though

and i think one of the hell tests will do it too..can't remember...

The only permanent DEX increasers out there are the aforementioned MoLtM in Watcher's Keep, something known as the DoMT (which you find in pretty much the same place), and one of the Trials at the end of SoA. The MoLtM is guarateed to raise anybody's DEX by 1 (provided you do everything correctly, that is), whereas the DoMT will raise a person's DEX by 1 if and only if that character is a Thief--and even then, it's no sure thing. The DEX boost in the Trials will occur as a result of taking the Evil path through one of the tests--and again, it will only raise a Thief's DEX. (Or possibly a Bard's--I haven't tested that.)

theres also the tome in bg1, but that would require for you to have played through the saga as a whole...the machine requires ToB, btw

You will not get to that 21 DEX if you are good. An elf of 19 DEX will have 20 at the end of BGI. Then, play SoA, and if you do the evil path of one of the trials in hell, you will not lose a point of dexterity. So then, you can get 21 in TOB with the machine.

Faceman 10-12-2003 06:26 AM

the problem is that this will turn you evil.
So to sum up
DEX
19 - elf
+1 - BG1 tome
+1 - MoLtM
+1 - DoMT (thief only)

gets you to a max of 22,
21 if you choose the good path in hell and therefore sacrifice 1 point of DEX.

well 21 is all i really need...it gives another +1 to ac, am i right?

does this machine raise anything else? havent played much tob before but im planning on doing it

i donīt remember losing a point of dex in hell...is this really so?

Yes.

Every stat point by one, magic resistance by 5% and a rather nifty +3 weapon.

It's possible to lose one off your dexterity, are you selfish or not?
