Cool thanks mate.

Pirengle has it pretty much covered, but simply put, its like Faerun in kind of like the land mass of asia and europe, whilst Kara-Tur is like Japan...
ADD]BTW, just to be a pain in the a**, Kara-Tur is not in Baldurs Gate...Baldurs Gate is a port town by the Sea of Swords, along the Sword Coast ;) [ 12-26-2003, 06:53 PM: Message edited by: Raistlin Majere ] |
Well, Amn isn't in Baldur's Gate either.
I'm not sure why I said that. There may have been a point when I thought of it. |

That's*
I think Kara-Tur just sounds far easternish. |
Amn is in Baldur's Gate, but it is the very northern tip. Nashkel anyone?

Amn is a nation whose capital is Athkatla. Baldur's Gate is an independent city, not an area. Nashkel, Beregost, and other villages and hamlets are considered to be part of the Sword Coast, but "ruled" by Baldur's Gate, sort of like a collection of villages ruled by a neighboring castle. (At least, this is what I understand from FR lore.) |
Indeed. And Baldur's Gate and the region 'Amn' have been at the brink of war for some time now (started out in BG1). North of Baldur's Gate you have the Neverwinter area (you play the game Neverwinter Nights in that area) and even further north you have Icewind Dale (and yes, you guessed it right: you play the Icewind Dale series in that region)
