I'm specifically wondering if anyone knows roughly how much XP is available for killing all the enemies you meet before facing Improved Illyich 2.0
The reason I'm asking is because of a challenge laid down by another member that a solo dwarven beserker would be unable to beat Illyich 2.0 and crew on Insane. I want to give it a shot, but I really don't want to take the time to fight all the way up to Illyich. Since this is just a test anyway, I was planning on using CNTRL-Y on the enemies. But I would like to know how much XP I'm missing out on to determine if the beserker would gain a level before facining Illyich and crew. I would imagine almost all classes (except for multi-class) would gain at least one level by fighting all the duergar in addition to the regular enemies in the Chateau. So if any of the members that know this game inside out could tell me how much experience to add to the beserker, I would appreciate it. |
You're soloing, so you can probably gain 2 levels at most I think. Each time you rest, those 3 duergars come back, so you can keep killing them for XP.

I'm going off a big estimate here, but given that...
Imoen gains a level Jaheira gains a level (well, half a level, I believe) Silver Star gains 2 levels Minsc... I don't think gains a level Chloe doesn't gain a level the PC may or may not gain a level depending on class (assuming you fill out your party slots ASAP) ...I'd go with ~150,000 XP being available (including beating Ilyich) in Chateau Irenicus. This *does* include having Imoen scribe all the scrolls you find & Disarm Traps/Open Locks, so a solo Fighter-type avoiding Ilyich could be expected to gain about 90,000 - 100,000 (150 minus traps/locks/scrolls minus Ilyich & co. minus Plane of Air minus Cambion), putting you at level 8 if you start with 89,000 XP (250,000 needed for level 9), if you do everything but Ilyich (too many parenthetical comments? Given that I had to eat my shoe when Jim took on my bet that a solo Kensai could not defeat IIlyich on Insane Difficulty... I have fairly high confidence that a solo Berserker will fare just as well, if not better.
