This may seem like a dull question but does anyone out there play Baldur's Gate 2 (with or without TOB) without any mods, soundsets, portraits, kits and NPC's added?? I mean just play a straight install of the game (patch allowed of course :))
Just interested to know is all

Yep,

Always played it totally unmodded untill I tried out BGT. It's buggy as hell, and it adds a couple of cheesy items so I went back to plain old Disc install & patch.

I used to add a few mods in here and there, but I want to play a "pure" game, and am only installing ToB, the official patch, and the Baldurdash fixpack.

So far, this is the most fun I've had in a while with this game.

Thanks for the posts...I was dithering over playing an unmodded game but now your comments have swung it for me...Thanks

I'd recommend playing unmodded first time.

However, I wouldn't let bad experiences with BGT or similar put you off. There are several mod communities with by and large decent mods. Check out http://www.gibberlings3.net or http://www.pocketplane.net or http://www.weidu.org for some.

Once you find some good mods you like, it's hard to go back and play without. For me it wouldn't be as fun without certain mods. Baldurdash is essential.

But if you choose to play with no 3rd party mods, why would you also wish to avoid soundsets and custom portraits? That's a built-in feature of the game, to excercise your creativity in making a new character. It's not a mod, really.

I take your point, Hank...I just thought of all the things you can add to a game and lumped them together...but you are quite right in what you say

My first game was completely clean of mods, but then I found Dungeon be gone and Ease of use and so on, and now I always use mods, not alot, but just enough to keep the game fun.

I'm playing it unmodded and absolutely loving it. I guess if you know it inside out then the mods just prolong it though.

the first game I played through with only the official patch and Baldurdash fixpack. The next time I played through using a lot of mods, and when I get bored of other games I'll attempt tactics :D
