I've started another of my mine "no reloads insane Tactics" games and this time I want to do it with a "clean" run. I just want to complete the game with no cheese at all. I will also limit myself with some items:

Mods installed: Tactics v.21, Ascension, Item Upgrade, Rogue Rebalancing Mod

My party consists of:
PC - Kensai/Mage (dualled at 9) with grandmastery in flails for FOA madness :D
Jaheira - F/D (Belm + some club)
Haer'Dalis - Blade (CFury + Kundane)
Anomen - F/C (buffs + Sling)
Keldorn - Inquisitor (Carso + crossbow)
Imoen - T/M (mage support + thieving + RP reasons)

Here are my limitations for now:

- no fake talk (hmm, I've never done that anyway)
- no invisible door blocking
- no wands (at all)
- no fog of war web+cloudkill tactic
- no Shield of Reflection & Shield of Balduran
- no Vhailor's Helm
- no Cloak of Mirroring
- no Sanchuduuku
- no scrolls of Prot. from Undead or Prot. from Magic
- no Improved Kitthix
- no staff of the magi spell disruption tactic
(I intend to use it for dispelling with my K/M - opinions ?)
- no Project Image at all
- no mislead abuse (hiding the image somewhere and going on rampage ;) )

I might have forgotten something but anyway, what else would in your opinion be cheesy? I do use Robe of Vecna - what's your view on that one?

what about trap HLAs for Haer' ?

i've never used item upgrade but do some of the combination items cross a line ?

no wands is harsh - i've never heard it suggested that's too cheesy - maybe resist the sell and buy (steal) to recharge exploit

web & cloudkill ain't too bad (fog of war exploit using cloudkill without web is unforgivable i agree if you care about such things)

robe of vecna is super strong i guess . . .

are you going to do all the quests or avoid the high risk of injury ones where possible?

Cheese is a style of play, not the item's involved, if you can't trust yourself not to abuse certain powerfull artifacts then you should avoid them

The reason why he has chosen to play with Kensai/Mage is probably high hit points and protection with Stoneskin not neccessarily creating big mean killing machine. :D

Yes, some of the items in Item Upgrade do cross line - name which ones do you find unacceptable?

Yes, I intend to do all quests. I also choose to kill the whole russian gang in the dungeon. If I solo I usually kill just Ilyich. ;)


Well it's a powerfull character. I surely can't play this game with Beastmaster. But it is a legit character and I have no problems with it. I intend to use knowledge of game, enemies and spells against weimer tactics and test my skills.

I sure can cheese my way through too. But that's another character. [img]smile.gif[/img]

With Spell Shield they cannot dispell me. The rest is just protecting from everything they throw at you. If you play the game gazilion times like me, you know all their attacks ...

NO story, but I can give an update on my progress. I've been playing already for a couple of days:
- had a very exciting fight with Ilyich&Co. - Jaheira and Minsc died but I managed to destroy all of them. I resurrected both when I got out.
- did all the smaller quests in Athkatla (Circus, Slavers, ...)
- already finished these Stronghold quests: Planar Prison, Planar Sphere, D'Arnise Hold, Maevar's guild

My next stop is Druid Grove and I want to know what is your opinion on Improved Faldorn?

My opinion on her: she's a cheating monkey. :D

How did the De'Arnise Hold fight went?
