So, how did everyone first start out playing Baldur's Gate II?

Was it because you played the original Baldur's Gate I? And if that is the case, how did you come to start out playing that?

Was it a recommendation from a friend or game store assistant?

Did you just see it on the shelves and liked the look of it?

Or is it another reason?

Mm... My parents got me the first BG for Christmas. I'm amazed they were able to pick out a game I'd like so much. I was hooked, and the rest is history.

When my uncle moved here from Washington, me and my cousin started to talk to him, he introduced D&D to us. After asking him if I could borrow a computer game for my new game, he showed me Baldur's Gate and said I could. I was hooked. (I couldn't pick a character I liked though) Anyway, the day I returned it I found him playing BG II. I asked him if I could borrow it if he ever finished, he said no. I was slightly heartbroken. I asked why not and he said due to the sexual themes etc in the game, that I was too young. On my 13th birthday I believe, BG II was my birthday present. :D Was awesome.

When I was 11, for my birthday, my uncle bought me Baldur's Gate 1. I had never heard of it, nor seen ads for it, so I was sort of doubtful about installing it or not. I got bored one day though and tried it, and LOVED it. I got Baldur's Gate 2 the next year for my birthday from my parents, bought ToB with birthday money, and TotSC off of EBay with what was left. The end.

I was spending a holiday weekend with friends and they were showing off their new computer and their favorite game…Baldur’s Gate I. I was hooked right then and there. I went out and bought BGI but then realized I needed a new computer to play it. It took three months of saving money to afford a new computer but it was worth it.

my mate was playing it with his brother on multiplayer and he went to the toilet and i had a go while he was gone, that was BG 1 in the nashkel mines

I was bored, went to the store and saw crappy games all around. Then I saw BGII. Looked at the back and thought: "Well... why the hell not?" :D

i don't really have many other computer games and almost never play them - couple of years ago i was looking in a shop, saw BG1, saw it was based on D&D (that i played in my youth) and bought it

You want to know how it all started? O.K. Leslie was keep telling me how BG2 rocks. Non stop. So I asked my friend if I can borrow it from him and he gave it to me. After that he gave me BG1. So after playing it I went and bought BG2 myself.

My dad bought a PC and BG1 came with it. I played it and loved it, so when BG2 came out I bought it with my own money. Best £30 I ever spent.
