My party:

Uther Lightbringer C/R (warcraft fan anyone? )
Tryn kensai --> Thief
Imoen
The ToB Npc will later join.

So, four people. And IIRC there are four Boots of speed in the game. My party is definetly Good. I already have two pairs of boots and I want a pair for imoen as well. The last pair in SoA is on Renal Bloodscalp. I WILL get ahold of thoose boots somehow, how do i go about acquiring them? I can't pickpocket them and I dont want to turn him hostile. I thought i could summon a pit fiend to kill him but that also turns him hostile. What do you suggest i do?

IIRC, Feeblemind.

bjorn 02-27-2005 08:42 AM

Ahh, thats true... but then I'd have to feeblemind everyone on that floor right?

Dundee Slaytern 02-27-2005 09:18 AM

More or less. Inns only cost a buck a night anyway.

I'm pretty sure that there are 5 pairs of Boots of Speed in the game (total). I think two are in ToB. One on a baddie you fight early on, one can be bought in that first city (S).

North Forest. Or was that added by Tactics? I forget.

Renal can be whacked with no difficulties at all if you're in Chapter 6 or 7.

But he's good aligned, so whacking Renal for no obvious reason would be out of the question, no?

And I thought Uther was a paladin?

bjorn 02-28-2005 07:57 AM

I tried Ctrl+Q on him and took the boots to simulate me pickpocketing them. But once i kick him out of the party his dialogue is messed up. I haven't done his quest yet and I'm not sure if I will bother to do it. I would still like to have the option of doing it however. I could probably kill the whole guild but i don't want to do that.

I haven't got tactics and I don't think that you can find more than three pairs in vanilla SOA.

Could someone give me the clua code for renal just in case?

Yeah i know, but i don't really like the Paladin class in BG. Uther might very well be one of the coolest characters ever in a game, I just had to use his name :D

According to Gamebanshee you can only find three pairs of the Boots of Speed throughout vanilla BG2, in the locations already mentioned by yourself. Other than doing something to Renal there's other way to obtain the third pair of the Boots.

IMHO you wouldn't be roleplaying all too well by doing that. After all, you're good-aligned, and your character (especially not Uther!! -- remember 'The Culling' in Warcraft 3) wouldn't lower himself to killing a (relatively) innocent person just for his shoes.

I beg to disagree. If you want to, go ahead and kill him, but make sure you kill ALL of the shadow thieves. They are, after all, an evil organization bent on making money through illegal means. You may owe them for helping you, but you payed bunches of money for it too, and they are far from trustworthy people. I think there are a few boots in SoA, but the others are all added through tactics, I'm pretty sure. TOB holds 3 more, so you can outfit your entire party with boots.
