I've heard that Kensai/Mage is one of the best (if not the best) characters to solo through BG2. The thing is, I don't know when I should dual it to mage. Which level should he be when I dual it? I expect a lot of people here tried it themselves so at which lvl did you guys dual?

I tried at solo and I dualled at 21.... this way you can even get a wirlwind attack and an improved Wirlwind attack. Good thing you can have the fighter HLAs even when kensai class is inactive.

It was fun... like three separate games, first solo kensai, then mage then kensai/mage...

Regained my kensai class in the underdark while doing the illithid city quest...

Level 13. Extra half attack, and you can reach the maximum spell-casting level when you get to level 28 mage.

or level 9 if you're playing with a party of six, especially if you haven't intalled any mods

definitely level 9 if you only have SoA (not ToB)

I actually made a similar post then edited it when I noticed this.

If you're soloing, a F/M or F/Ill multiclass is much easier to handle, and arguably more powerful.

For a solo, if you want to make it wasy, I actually prefer a F/M/T.

If you wish to follow the formula, than the following,

A SoA-only Solo K->M, dual at Lvl 09
A SoA+ToB Solo K->M, dual at Lvl 13

Yes, I have ToB installed and I do intend to take it through both SoA and ToB. So, level 13?

E-yup. Have fun.
