Let me explain my problem, I need a game to play...

1. Its up in the air between Fallout 2, and BG2.

2. I have played both for only around 2 hours and do to how busy my life is, I could just not get into the story.

3. I'm trying again, simply because they don't make games like they use to.

4. In BG2, I always tried to do the kensi mage duel cause I heard that was one of the best,, however, thats not really my playing style,, I'm more of an Archer if anything.. Would an Archer be a good starting choice? if so, can i have a few tips on playing an archer

5. I enjoy powerlvling, and godly items, I want my team to be the best. Thats just how I play, I also enjoy a great story line thats over 40 hours at least.

6. I've heard great things about fall out 2, but it seems to start off very slow for me just like BG2

Which game should I start playing?

if you think fallout2, please give me alittle game play advice, and why i should play it.

if you tihnk bg2, please give me some advice on the archer, and why i should play bg2

I really do need some help

Ps. I know this is a BG2 forum, and most people will say play BG2 , duh, but the website Ironworks has hardcore RPG gamers who's advice I listen too.

Thanks

I've only played BG2, and an archer would be a good srarting character, as long as you have tanks to back you up

The ranger kit archer is reasonably good. It has some armor limitations but no worse than some other ranger classes.

If memory serves elves get a bonus when using long bows and long swords…so you might want to try being an elf

Put your proficiencies in long bow (plenty of good long bows in the game) toss one or two into single weapon style for the bonuses that provides and then settle on a mêlée weapon, long sword (lots of good long swords too)

As for a team…just make sure it is well balanced…something that covers all the basics.

A good team for a first time with an archer would be:
Jaheira
Anomen
Minsc
Nalia
Yoshimo

Jaheira, Anomen and Minsc will give you more front line tanking than you could ever need, Yoshi will handle the thieving and Nalia arcane firepower.

I've played both Fallout II and Baldurs Gate II, and I would say go with BG. Especially since, you nkow, if you have a question, we *will* be able to answer it ;)

No problem! Just remember that if you're ever stuck, never consult a guide. It's too tempting to read ahead! Just ask here, and we'll be happy to answer :D
