This isn't a question related to any specific fight, but rather to fighting in general.

My characters simply don't respond to the commands I give them. I can give my PC the command to Spell Thrust a character, he ignores it and starts to attack instead. If I get him to make a spell, it says round end, fine I think and issue another spell, which he ignores and starts to attack again with his no-good staff.

I am not sure if this is related to any particular script being buggy, because it seems to happen with most scripts I have tried, and even sometimes when I disable AI.

Has anyone else encountered similar frustrations? Sometimes the flow of the battle goes good, other times it is frankly impossible to make anyone f ex use a scroll or a potion.

Ok, vent over... anyone got suggestions? When the characters do not respond it is very hard to win battles which you should be able to.

Kindly, Thomas

Are you patched up-to-date? I believe this is a rare bug, but is fixed by patches.

Telepath 10-25-2006 12:46 PM

I have the latest patch from Bioware for ToB. Do I need third-party fixes?

(Another thing. I have got staff of the magi and it keeps scrolling Moloch: Protected from Evil a little now and then.)

I installed the ToB fixpack from Baldurdash. No effect.

Is your spell casting being interrupted? Say by an attack, an arrow, a bullet…a backstabbing?

If your character keeps disengaging magic for attacking they have either been hit by something or you have your spell caster far to close to the battle. And if he/she is using a staff then to get the motive to attack they would have to be reasonably close.

There are no interrupts. If the spellcaster is interrupted it says so in the game info, right?

set all individual scripts to none.

Have you tried reinstalling? (save your saved games first).

I was going to suggest scripts off as well.

good luck .. hope you fix ur problem.. else the best way really is a full reinstalltion ( you can save your game into a seperate folder and bring it back on again once the installations are complete so you dont have to start over from scratch)
