I've been playing Baldur's Gate for close to 4 years and not once have I had the opportunity to play a multiplayer game. As pathetic as it may sound I am new to the whole online playing style. All I know is that you can only play a game between modems, but how exactly does it work? (this question is lame but...)

When you MP everyone needs to have the same versions and patches to MP. Here is the MP protocol that I use (and is commonly used on all the boards I know of):
ToSC v.5512 ToSC patch http://www.interplay.com/support/bgtales/patch.html directx8.0a http://www.microsoft.com/directx/homeuser/downloads Note: directx8.1 is the newest version but it may pose problems for BG. dx8.0a works fine. directx8 patch http://www.interplay.com/support/bgtales/patch.html no Roger Wilco no firewall (either configure ports as indicated or temporarily bring down) You can play with Dark Side but everyone needs to have it. You can also get yout patches from Bioware at http://www.bioware.com/games/tales_s...pport/patches/ Once you're patched then it is very simple: 1) Multiplayer 2) Connect 3) on the Connection screen press the top button for the Protocol and select TCP/IP 4) Join Game 5) type in host's IP address 6) click 'done' and voila! you'll show up in the host's multiplayer arbitration screen. We might be getting game going here before too long if you're interested. [ 01-27-2002: Message edited by: Lemernis ]</p> |
