I would love to know what BG2 fans think of The Darkest Day is it worth downloading?

Daniel_M 01-05-2002 09:57 PM

I suppose its worth the download, bit is you have a 56k modem it takes A-G-E-S, but it a nice little mod with loads of new kits, spells, items and new quests, so i suppose its worth it

Well, yes, but they've yet to make it ToB-compatible. It can only run with SoA.

Where can you d/l it from?

fable 01-06-2002 10:27 PM

Try http://teambg.db-forge.com/net/tdd/

According to the designers, the game is not going to become ToB-compatible in the near future.

In my opinion, TDD sucks. A lot. A whole lot.

Reasons:

Extremely unbalanced kits
Extremely unbalanced items
Extremely illogical quests
Crappy dialogue, horrible grammar
All the 'new' areas are stolen from past Infinity Engine games (Bg1, Icewind Dale, Planescape: Torment).
Buggier than the lovechild of Daikatana and PoR.

It's a very unprofessional and unpolished experience. Odd considering how long it was in development..

You're being a bit unfair, here--it's like accusing a bank of hoarding money. ;) I'm no spokesperson for TeamBG (thanks the gods, since their team leader has all the person skills, judging from his posts elsewhere, of a gila monster), but they said right from the start that they would be using (with Interplay's permission) the background art of previous Interplay CRPGs. It saved time, and let 'em spend their efforts on coding quests, etc.

Buggier than the lovechild of Daikatana and PoR.

Have you played it since the 1.02 patch? It's much better.

Alright, maybe I was being a bit harsh, but it just annoys me that so many bugs and grammatical errors made it through playtesting. That's not to say it's a complete waste of time - I think with some (a lot of) time spent balancing the kits and fixing the remaining bugs and dialogue, it could be an enjoyable mod.

But that's just one's opinion.
