Ok, I just installed Throne of Bhaal and Im wondering that should I continue with my old mage/thief from BG2 or create a completely new character. Like are there many things based on what you did in BG2?

And if I create a new one, what kind of character do you suggest? What kind of character gets the best stuff in ToB? (you know what I mean)

I'm asking this 'cause I liked to be something else than that crappy mage/thief multi...

One day I'll play through ALL the Baldur's Gate games with the same character :D

I'd say stick with your old character. If you start up a new one in ToB, you'll miss out on SoA's best items and your level will be a lot lower. Unless, of course, you really want something new without having to play through SoA again.

Stick with what you have. A new party will get some good items, but nothing like the items you've already collected.

did you guys know that you can continue the game from BG2, fight Irenicus and get all the cool character improvements from the "eyes" and then just continue the game into ToB by just swapping disks when it asks you to?

I stumbled accross it by uninstalling BG2, then when I got ToB I reinstalled it and wanted to get all of the cinematics, so I finished BG2 again, then it asked for me to swap the disks after the final movie and I continued the game from then!

Sorry if you already knew this but I would continue with the old thief from BG2.

When I created that char, I didn't know exactly how multiclasses worked and was disappointed when I could get only so few mage spells with that char. And I just played through Planescape Torment with a thief and got little bored with backstabbing.

But still, I think I'll stick with my Ethreal D'Argoth because I have the best stuff from SoA and well...Aeriel is an other reason :D

Thanks fomr the help anyway. (I just downloaded the patch so I can go and play)

Yes, that's pretty much what I said, above, and it's been common knowledge since the day the add-on came out. ;)

About this finishing SOA and putting in the TOB disc, is this a bug of the game that let's you keep the bonuses, or are you supposed to have them when you move on?

I also have the same question as the original post. I didn't really like my SOA character, but I don't want to start with a weak one. How weak would a new character be?

Keep the bonuses. The character won't be weak, but if you want, boost him up via shadowkeeper.

A brand new ToB character starts with 2,500,000 XPs and some good but generally not great equipment (with a few exceptions such as the flail). After a short while of solo-ing you can summon party members at your whim.

I'm not sure why you're not too thrilled with your PC's kit (although I'm sort of curious as to what it might be), but so long as you're not playing with the Improved Tougher Illasera mod (not one for first-timers), a brand new ToB character should be quite OK through the first stage of ToB.

If you're not enjoying your existing kit, then I'd try something different. I would also look at CLUA-ing in any important items that you feel that you would have carried through to Throne of Bhaal if you're nervous about being under-equipped. Even if it's not Carsomyr, Blackrazor, or whatever, I'd certainly look at CLUA-ing in the two Rods of Resurrection that are fairly easily obtainable in SoA ... you may need them towards the end.

And if you almost run out of charges, sell it and steal it for a quick recharge!
