I would like to play as a Bard but I do not know what kit to go with.
Those of you that have some experience with them could you
please give me your insight?

They are good bards, pretty good fighters, and have the very good abilities 'Offensive-' and 'Defensiv Spin'.

The Blade is an excellent kit. If you want an even less standard Bard, consider the Jester.
