I'm sick of this guy. After 20-30 reloads I don't think I've even managed to hit him. 2 problems -
As soon as his dragon form materialises he creates a death field which instantly kills all summoned allies. Is there a limit to the size of this field? I've had allies way out of his visual range and they still die. What can actually hit him? I've removed his spell protections and lowered his saving throws with spellstrike, ruby ray, greater mallinson etc, and had him surrounded by 3 level 24+ fighters with various weapons & greater whirlwind, but everything's either ineffective or just doesn't seem to do any damage. Help!! |
If your fighter can't hit him is means that he still has his 'protection from magic weapons' active - be careful in which order your
spell-protestion-breakers are fired - otherwise some of them will be wasted against his 'protection from abjuration' And his 'death spell(?)' does have a limited range - just try to keep your summoned creatures futher back - but take one of them with you when you attack the human form (I think he automaticly targets he nearest summoned enemy - but I'm not certain) |
I'm not sure if his death-field had an unlimited range, might be so ..
Though my Deva didnt die, while they were out of his sight ( quite a bit away of him) i was very lucky when fighting him, since i wiped his human form awat with a Dragon's breath ... This made him slide behind the pillars to the left of the screen, and once transformed, he was stuck. Still had to fight him though, but i could regenerate and attack when i wanted, since he wasnt going anywhere Anywayz ... he has lots of stoneskins/ prot. from magic weapons .. and both are dispelled by the spell " breach" , lvl 5. Summon a Deva/ planetar and Elemental Prince too, if you can ... they dispel combat-protections at an incredibly high lvl , each time they hit an enemy. Good luck !! P.s. if you're mage is high enough . .simply protect him while he casts time-stop, and than finsh him off, after 2/3 Lower Magic resistances |

I'm still not getting anywhere!
Summoned monsters distract him long enough to hit him with Spellstrike, Ruby Ray, Pierce Magic and Breach. Then I've tried to hit him with magical weapons, ordinary weapons, and assorted offensive magic. Nothing touches him. |

Keldorn's up to level 26, Valygar 25, Aerie 19/17, Jaheira 19/14,Imoen 21 plus me as a 29th level fighter.
The latest plan, while he was killing off my allies, was to hit him with Spellstrike,2 Ruby Rays, then 2 Spell Triggers with a mixture of Pierce Magic & Breach. The 3 fighters had him surrounded for a couple of minutes using Greater Whirlwinds - not a single hit!! |
Do u have the difficulty really really really really really really really really really really high?

Ruby Ray of Reversal is the only effective counterspell to Draconis' spell protections, because it an Alteration classed spell( and the only one I may add, which is ridiculous). Okay. Can either Aerie or Keldorn in your party gate in a Deva? If the answer is yes. Do the following. When you enter the area, use either Aerie or Imoen to summon a Wizard Eye. Then proceed to gate in a Deva. Select the Deva and cast Globe of Blades. Using the Wizard Eye as a scout, guide the Deva to Draconis. Due to the Deva's high magic resistance and immunity to certain levels of weapon enchantments, Draconis will find it almost impossible to kill it in his human form( Devas are immuned to his physical attacks). Remember not to move your party. Let them stay where they are, and let the Deva do the initial dirty work for you. Start preparing though. Cast the usual spells like Stoneskin, Resist Fear, Chaotic Commands, Mass Invisibility, etc... ... For both Imoen and Aerie, memorise at least two Ruby Rays of Reversal each. Prepare a Spell Trigger filled with 3 Lower Resistances( do this before you enter the area) and a Spell Sequencer filled with Greater Malison, Slow and Polymorph Other each. Make Imoen memorise a Chain Contingency filled with 3 Abi-Dalzim's Horrid Wilting and set to trigger when enemy is sighted( do this before you enter the area too). When Draconis transforms, make Keldorn, Imoen and Aerie cast True Sight one after the other. Move Keldorn, your Fighter and Valgar forward, and some Fire Elementals and/or Mountain Bears from Jaheira. Make Imoen and Aerie stick close behind Keldorn, your Fighter and Valgar too. The moment you can see Draconis, make Imoen cast her Spell Trigger, while Aerie casts her Spell Sequencer. When Imoen's Chain Contingency fires off, immediately pause the game and prepare another Chain Contingency for her, using the same conditions and spells. After this initial barrage, get Imoen and Aerie to start casting their Ruby Rays of Reversal while your summons distract Draconis and Keldorn, Valgar and your Fighter score free hits. No need to Greater Whirlwind yet. Jaheira should be making sure there is always the maximum amount of summons in the battle. Position your tanks in different locations, so that even is Draconis wing buffets them, at least one and several summons can still whack him. The moment your tanks/summons can damage Draconis( after removing his Stoneskins and spell protections), activate Greater Whirlwind. Note, Draconis in Dragon form, has a hell of a time trying to kill a Mordenkenain's Sword, so if you can afford to cast a few, do so. Good luck, and have fun. |
or try it this way.
make sure you have a main character paladin with 22 strength (some belt), level 25 and carsomyr, minsc with 20 strength (belt), the +5 axe, and the runehammer, mazzy with 19 strength and the warblade, sarevok with the +5 psionic greatsword, imoen and aerie both with wands of spellstriking and aerie with crom faer and a +4 shield. take care all fighting characters (all except imoen) have -8 or better armor classes. your main character is immune to weapons of less than +1 echantment, and as draconis has no weapons in human form, that makes you immuneto his attacks (he wastes his time stop to attack you, so make sure he is attacking the protagonist.) now, kill the invisible stalkers using a death spell, and keep doing it. once draconis is in dragon form, start hacking at him, constantly casting breach on him. keep your fighters healed, and once the first fighter hits him, activate all your greater whirlwind attacks. he should die quite easily. i used this tactic against all my major opponents. (balthazar, all dragons, demogorgon, all enemies in that are guarding a power stream in the throne of bhaal, the last boss, all of them). This works like a charm. sure, you have to resurrect aerie a couple of times, and imoen during allmost every battle (yes, DURING. use a wand of resurrection or the blessed bracers to resurrect them with all hit points). the damage my fighters do is a lot more than mages can do, and with 2 rings of resurrection, 2 rings of kangaxx and the axe of unyielding, you never need to heal. good luck everybody! |
