The gold one: Sold by Lazarus Librarius in Saradush.

The silver one: Sold by the inn-keeper in Amkethran.

Both aren't very good IIRC

I don't use the gold one for anything but learning scrolls.

The wisdom one is nifty if you have a cleric.

If you have 18 int. naturally, you could momentarily equip the golden ioun stone to scribe the scrolls 18 int. doesnt allow you to, not too good for anything else.
The silver ioun stone comes in handy when casting wish.
18 wis. + 3 wis. ( books in BG I ) + 1 wis. ( Hell-challenges ) +1 wis.
( Machine of Lum the Mad ) +1 wis. ( ioun stone ) = 24 wis.

Works if you want a nice chance of getting the rest-option.
You'll have to unequip the item that grants you a few more lvl 7 and 8 spells more ( IIRC) ,.. so .. i guess you're right. They arent worth a thing

Just call me mistress and worship me :D
In ToB I had no problem with cash, so I just swigged a potion of intelligence.

Not for the solo mage or sorcerer, but they might be handy now and then in a regular party.

Dace De'Briago 02-03-2003 02:35 PM

I made a point of collecting all of them on the way through SoA and ToB. I was sort of hoping that they could be modified by Cespenar into a Uberstone.

Unfortuntely, I am carrying around loads of rubbishy guff :(

Too bad that still doesn't explain the Axe of Hrothgar, sold by Joluv. The +1 to WIS and CHA is all right....but it's too bad that the only Priest who can use it is a Multiclassed Cleric/Thief, and even then they can't put any proficiency points into it.

(A Priest of Tempus could use it, though.)

Dundee Slaytern 02-03-2003 11:04 PM

daan, you left out the Deck of Many Things. +1 WIS if the person using it is a Cleric and gets the right option. So 25 WIS is attainable.
