My party - PC Cavalier and Imoen and I took Sarevok

But he is a wuss - gave him silver sword, Gorgon's plate and I had to RETREAT with him at the first fight in Saradush when you meet Melissan.
Playing on insane difficulty with Tactics Mod and Ascension.

So I think he is a good attacker but poor defensively.

But if I dual him to mage - then Stoneskin, PFMW, Mirror Image, ...

And later - Time Stop + Ravager :D

Yeah I know - INT 17, but the Machine can fix that. ;)

Any suggestions from the experts ?
Remember I will try to win Ascension on insane. Poor me ...

Machine can`t fix that. It only works on a Protagonist.I say:

Dual Class to:
Mage-No...he doesn`t have profisencies in Halberd.

Thief...yes..backstabb,UAI-almost equal to mage reading scrolls

Hardly a wuss, more like the best Fighter NPC in the game ;) You're doing something wrong if he's very weak compared to your other fighters.

But yeah sure, you could dual him to a mage. Getting enough XP for that would be a problem if you played with a full party, but it should be doable with only three people. 17 INT wouldn't be a problem even without the machine (anyone can use it Xen ;) ), since you always gulp down a few Potions of Genius before scribing any scrolls anyway, right?

He is not doing anything wrong Rataxes.Let me explain:
He soloed SoA until Imoen.Took her, kicked Jonny-Boy`s butt, moved on to ToB and took Sarevok.-He is a wuss becuase Leslie and Imoen were really high level at the and of SoA...

Hmm, wrong ? Equipping him with a great sword and a great armor and clicking on the enemies - he gets hit and on insane he is "red" quickly.

Vanilla fighters hit for about 30-35 dmg - so 5 hits and goodbye Sarevok.
Of course you can always run around and drink potions but do you think Sarevok would do that ? ;) And it's annoying. How about demons ? I'll report when we meet one - should be soon.

We're now entering WK and I DUALED him to mage - he is now lvl 10.
Boy is he gonna kick butt when we're out. :D

About 17 INT - I don't think you can cast level 9 spells or can I ?
Hmmm - where are those tables ...

No, you can't. You need atleast 18 Int for that. ;)
But, there is a certain... gadget in WK that can raise all your stats by one point. ;) It's kinda hard to figure out, though, so tell me if you want to know more. ;)

May be a wuss compared to superpowered lvl 30+ chars or whatever Leslie's got ;) , but certainly not compared to the level of opposition you should encounter in the beginning of ToB, and certainly not compared to any other NPC in the game at equal levels. I've played with Sarevok myself once and he had no problems holding his own vs low-life such as Gromnir's Soldiers

Well for starters, fighters really don't work well on auto-pilot unless they get back-up (not that any class does), so clicking on an enemy and leaving it at that, is going to put any fighter in danger very quickly. Active maneuvering is usually required, alternating retreats with charges and repositioning your character to prevent enemy fighters from surrounding you, for instance.

I think Sarevok would be concerned about his own life ;) You mean to tell me that you never use healing potions in the heat of battles? Unless you allow enemy fighters to gang up on Sarevok (bad idea!), being able to take 5 hits before going down means a lot of time and he should be able to do some serious damage himself in that time. Add constant repositioning to render multiple enemy fighters harmless and a potion or two, and you should be able to remain in battle for quite some time.

17 INT somewhat limits the number of spells of each level you can scribe into your spellbook, but it's still plenty, far more than enough. You'll still be able to cast 9th level spells, INT actually doesn't affect your maximum spell level at all, I think.

Should have, but wasnt implemented.
The most popular duals for sarevok are Thief and Mage.
Dual him to a thief and you have someone who once made a backstab for over
600 Damage !!!
However I like the mage-dual more .. and 17 int. is very far from bad

Yep, that's correct. INT has no effect whatsoever on whether you can cast a spell or not. It's one of those "it was on the TODO list, but we never actually implemented it" things. ;)

They should be the most popular, considering the fact they're Sarevok's *only* "dual to" options. ;)
