Closely examining my lvl 25/26 Wizardslayer/thief with some recent problems,.. I stumbled onto some interesting findings. See, I never really like the Purifier +5 .. one because its hard to get legitimately if you want that Xtra +25% physical resistance .. and two because other than the 30% Magic Resistance it grants nothing too spectecular.

Newayz .. the purifier is need to get to 100% MR for the wizardslayer/thief.
True ... but with a few more changes to Dundees set up, purifier is no longer needed.

He takes a lvl 20 wizardslayer:

A level 20 Wizard Slayer will have a base of 20% Magic Resistance.TMoLTM will grants an additional 5% Magic Resistance.

Magic Resistance:
--------
Class Base: 20%
TMoLTM: 25%
Ring of Gaxx: 35%
Purifier +5: 65%
Cloak of Balduran: 90%
Amulet of Seldarine: 100%

I take a lvl 25 Wizardslayer:

Class Base: 37%
SoA Hell Trials ( left out in Dundee's thread, not sure why ): 47%
TMoLTM: 52%
Ring of Gaxx: 62%
Cloak of Balduran: 87%
Amulet of Seldarine: 97%

Good enough for me and without using the Purfifier [img]tongue.gif[/img]

NOTE: I'll probably edit this soon as I have 92% MR ingame, not 97 .. went wrong somewhere :D

One of the reasons why I chose level 20 is because I do not want to spend most of the game trying to get back my first class. The Wizard Slayer->Thief was not designed to be soloed( although it is feasible with some alternative tactics), and is best played either with one other partner( preferably Lawful Good), or more.

That said and done, a revised look at the Wizard Slayer->Thief,

PS: A level 20 WS will have a class bonus of 24% Magic Resistance, not 20%.

Level 25/27:

Magic Resistance

Class Base: 37%
Nine Hells: +10% = 47%
TMoLtM: +5% = 52%
Ring of Gaxx: +10% = 62%
Cloak of Balduran: +25% = 87%
Amulet of Seldarine: +10% = 97%
Purifier +5: +30% = 127%

Physical Damage Resistances

C = Crushing
M = Missile
P = Piercing
S = Slashing

Defender +3: 20%C 0%M 20%P 20%S
Jansen AdventureWear: 45%C 25%M 45%P 45%S
Roranach's Horn: 95%C 25%M 45%P 45%S
Belt of Inertial Barrier: 95%C 50%M 45%P 45%S

So what will be your main weaknesses? Acid, Cold, Psionics, INT-Drain, STR-Drain, Charm, Confusion and Imprisonment.

You will be immuned to Poison, have 20-70% Fire Resistance, and 50-100% Electrical Resistance.

[img]tongue.gif[/img] You just desribed my exact current equipment, except I trade in a 0.03 chance of a spell getting through for even more cheesiness granted by the eclipse longsword / Flail of ages.
I switch to the flail as soon as I blind them .. or I proceed to Backstab them with the eclips longsword .. depends on how bored I am ;)

I am sure that one of the Pocket Plane challenges gives you another +5% MR, because my Cavalier (naked) has 20% MR.

I still can't get him to 100% MR if he holds DOE.

20% + 25% (Cloak of Balduran) + 10% (Gaxx) + 10% (Amulet of Seldarine) + 30% (Purifier +5) = 95%

If I hold Flail of Ages then I have 100%, but lower physical resistances.

Any ideas ?

Give him Enkidu's Plate. Great Full Plate with -2 AC and +5% MR.

The Deck of many things should be able to help you out, but my guess is you allready used that ?
Hell challenge (10%) + TMoLTM (5%) + TDoMT (5%) = 20%

Don't think the Deck can give you MR. It can give you a very small Fire resistance bonus, but that's it.

I also recall getting a small MR boost from one of the Pocket plane challenges.

daan, how did you equip Eclipse? One of Weimer's rationale for the obscene statistics on Eclipse is because only Solaufein can wield it, and if somebody else tries to use it, it gets taken away.

SoS and I had argued that a Thief/Bard would get extreme with such a weapon.

I was referring to the "eclipse avenger" ( I think its called ).
Cant remember exactly .. but it goes something like this:

Longsword +4

Immune to Blindness and Missiles ( hehe, a good addition for someone who tries to achieve complete immunity I'd say ;) )
Target must save at -4 every hit or be blinded for 80 seconds ( blinded enemies suffer a -10 THAC0-penalty )
Regeneration

EDIT:
Owh, and it has an obscene Regeneration .. Pressed Tab over my wounded guy .. I'd say *atleast* 1 hp per second .. but it isnt stated how much exactly
