The 'summon vampires with Limited Wish, and turn them with cleric to gain an undead army' trick is old news. However, I've adapted the trick to work with a solo sorc. Although it requires an extra level 7 spell.

Essentially, you do the following:

1. Cast Project Image, move it far away from the original caster, and have that Image use a Protect Undead scroll on both itself, and your familiar. Using a Project Image is more practical, as you don't lose the scrolls.

2. Cast Limited Wish.

3. Get your FAMILIAR to talk to the genie. This is important, as any sorcerer worth his salt will actually have a high wisdom to gain the benefits of the 'Wish' spell, and hence will not be able to get the 'vampire' option from the Limited Wish spell.

4. Once the vampires have been summoned, hit them with a Greater Malison (although this is optional).

5. Use the level 7 spell 'Control Undead' against them. Approximately three castings should have them under your control. Note that the duration for Control Undead is 6 rounds + 1 round per level. In otherwords, the vampires stay under your thrall for an appreciable amount of time.

And yes, while the trick above is a little complicated, it does work. I've tested it for myself.

Technically feasible for a Mage, but blowing one of your Sorcerer's Level 7 picks on Control Undead does not exactly seem like a good idea.

Rats... my Sorcerer has a low Wis. I'm not really worried though, you don't cast the Wish spells all that often (I wouldn't waste a level 7 slot with it, I don't think), and by the time you can cast it, you should have a ton of potions of Insight.

The point is that, if you *do* have a high wisdom, "Summon Vampires" won't be a choice. Hence your familiar talking to it ;)
