I just got the Baldur's Gate collection and the icon is not showing on my laptop xp computer, is there anyway to overccome this or is this game too old for my xp?

don't quite understand your problem but mine is running on XP - it's fine

have a look for the executable in C:\Progam Files\Black Isle\... or similar

When I put the cd in the computer it does not show on the desk top

Then you have to run the install program manually. Navigate to the CDrom drive and run the executable yourself. Doing this will install the program on your CP.
