ok... I've gone through the ENTIRE game and I'm saved right before the final battle with Poquelin in Easthaven. I'm ready to kick his sorry butt from here to the Nine Hells and back. But I have a problem... I'm only at level 11.
I don't know why.
I want to teach him a lesson and see the purty effects of spells of 7th+ level, but I can't cast them yet. What's worse, I've saved in easthaven and can't go back to any place, so I would have to hack or cheat for more epxperience. Would it be better to just beat him and start on HOW with my characters imported? I'm really debating it. Either way, ir you could gimme a cheat to use in case I'm not at a high enough level, I'd be grateful.. After all, my Thief/Mage only has 33 hit points.
P.S. any advice on dealing wqith thos annoying golems Poquelin uses would help... I HATE poisonous gas. Thanks!!!

Sounds to me like you must have created new char alot in the game, I'd import and start HOW if I were you, but I would try the battle 1st, you never know (well we're pretty certain in your case but..)

Hope this helps, Ogre

P.S. (-> I dont cheat, nor reccomend it, try it legit <-)

Try killing him anyway, it could well turn out your characters have the ability of a level 16ish but they are only stated as level 11 on your game.

Without the expansions, starting with fresh characters, you can't get that much higher in levels by the end of the game (depending on your class, of course). Remember that a multi-class character will only level up at half speed. The first time I played the entire game, I had a level 13 druid but everyone else was at 11 or lower (druids level up faster than anyone except a rogue, and my Thief was multi-class). You can still beat the bad guy. Use haste and fire resistance and strength (in the form of spells or potions as available) and use the items that give you the best THAC0 and most damage. Forget about AC, the best defense is a good offense. Anything that gives you an AC bonus for a THAC0 penalty is junk in the final battle. As far as the golems, I usually just run my mage around to distract them while everyone else melees the big guy. You may need to Pause frequently to effectively split your attention. Besides, with all of the magic resistance, your mage won't be able to do anything else, anyway.

the difference between baldurs gate and icewind dale is that you can replace your dead comrades with a new set of fresh meat in a click of the mouse. but the consequences for this is that you will find a hard-butted villain that wont allow you too tickle him/her. so to fix youre problem, restart the game and try to keep your comrades sound and safe. hey one more hint... experience is divided according to the number of your characters, hence, the smaller the number the more exp. try to play the game using at least 3 characters.

heres my coompany:

1 fighter ( archer = elf lawful good)
1 mage (human) (evil)
1 thief (halfling)(neutral evil)

in this game you have alot of armours and weapons that can only be weilded by dark blooded (evil) characters so have one in your company.
