IWD worked great on my Hewlitt Packard, that came pre-loaded with XP. Then I intalled HoW and that worked great. Then added TotLM, and that worked great. Finally downloaded and installed a "No-CD fix" so that I can play it with my CDs safely locked away: still no problem.

I am sorry that I don't know how to solve your particular problem; but I know that XP is probably not the root of your woes. One thing I would attempt is to explore your CD, copy the setup program to hard drive, then run it in Win95 mode.

I have had problems installing and running the game "Black and White" on my XP machine, while I see that others have had varying levels of success. So your system could be the cause.

Sometimes, for some games, your video card (or lack of latest driver for same) can be a problem.

Can you get IWD (without HoW) to run? Although I'd HATE to run IWD without HoW, this might be a good diagnostic exercise.

You have found the right place to get your question answered, Unifier. If the group of hackers, lurkers, tweakers, and enthusiasts roaming these boards can't answer your question, I don't know who can.

Here's hoping you get satisfaction. I'll monitor this thread to see if I get a hint that helps me get B&W installed.

I have had this problem when I had to many games installed on my machine when installing another game. It probably isn't the problem, but check the space left on your hard drive to make sure.

1)Are there any messages or warnings that appear when the installation halts at 93%? If so what are they?
2)Try installing on as many systems as are available to you that meet the game requirements. If none of them work, chances are it's a problem with the CD itself.
3)Visually check the surface of the CD for flaws. If there are scratches, you may be hooped. If there are fingerprints or dust etc., gently wipe them away with a very soft fine material, such as that used for glasses lenses. Use scandisk or better still the Norton Disk Doctor to check the integrity of the information on the disk.
4)Norton's Speed Disk utility, which stands in as a better disk defragger, allows you to arrange where the free space on your drive will be placed. Place it at the end. This and the defragging itself may bump installation past 93%.

If you are doing the Full install dont worry about it!
