I was wondering..

I only have the original Baldur's gate game without the expansion. Will i still be able to go to Durlag's tower without the expansion?

Firestormalpha 07-23-2002 12:25 AM

No, the ToTSC expansion is required for Durlag's Tower.

ok... then i guess i am almost done with the game then.. is Durlag's tower the only thing in the expansion?

Nope, you also miss out on the Werewolf island, Ulgoths Beard (a small fishing village), a small ice island maze type thing and a raised XP cap of 161,000.

Plus lots of nifty weapons, funky quests, and (in my experience, anyway) the best Roleplaying conversation a Druid could ever have.

SPOILER (a good funny conversation)

Farthing: "My name's Farthing. I'm only five, so my daddy won't let me hunt. Are you allowed to hunt?"

Shade Forrester: "I believe that animals should be cherished and admired, not hunted and killed."

Farthing: "You're weird. If we didn't kill animals, what would we eat?"

Shade Forrester: "In the east there is a wonderful bush, that grows magical fruit called Tofufruit. Added to this are the Sacred Couscous and the Holy Bean Sprouts. All these and other bland, unappealing foods await those who renounce the consumption of flesh."

Farthing: "You are weird."

Note #1: If you take these conversation options, Farthing will not give you her mini-quest. I forget if you can get the EXP anyway, by giving her her dolly back, even though she didn't ask for it.

Note #2: I haven't played BG in months, and I still remember this conversation practically word for word. I need to go get my head examined.

Firestormalpha 07-24-2002 11:17 PM

Six, you need your head examined, and I need to know where to get that quest I got the doll I never met the child. Oh yeah what is the use of Nester's dagger? found it on an ankheg never found the owner or anyone looking for the owner.

Midget Gems 07-25-2002 02:07 AM

Nester lives in a house up in the north of BG city. It's a bit out of the way, so I rearly both to finish this quest - and the XP isn't very much either. Still, it's nice to do all the quests at least once, just to see for yourself.

Firestormalpha 07-25-2002 02:25 AM

Unfortunately I can no longer look upon exp as a reward for quests; however I've always had a fetish for collecting obscene ammounts of money. So far I am up to 260k gold. There wouldn't happen to be a cap on the gold you can carry would there?
