...Are the weapons that I would use for a Cleric/Ranger. In only IWD, I havn't found many good ones (sanctified war hammer, electric hammer, sling +1). Firstly, are there any that I'm overlooking? Giving star comes to mind, though good characters can't use it(who knows why). In HoW and TotLM, and later HoF, are there any to look forward to? TIA.

<font face="Verdana" size="3" color="#00FF00">How far are you
1. The Mace of Weal and Woe is good against lawful creatures but a decent mace.

2. Morning Star of Lesser Phasing can be found in the 2nd floor of the sevard hand, this is the one I start using when I get it, does extra cold damage.

3. Morning Star +2: 20% change target is stunned. I think this is found in 4th level of dragons eye. Actually it is a hard pick between 2 & 3. Do you go with the stunning ability or the extra cold damage?

4. Possibly the best mace is Morning Star +4: Defender found in Fleezum's Room in lower dorm's. As quite a few bonuses to resistance and armor class.

The best War Hammer is War Hammer +2: electrical at least until you make it to the sevared hand and Wyrm's Tooth. Here you may replace it with Sanctified War Hammer +2, War Hammer of Phasing +2, War Hammer +3 Life Giver, War Hammer: Redemption. Than there is Conlan's Hammer which you may want to hang on to.

Then for slings I have never minded the Giant Killer and replace with Edley's Sling later unless you meet giants.

Yes, in HoW there are most likely as good or better weapons to be found.</font>

There are some great items for each of those proficiencies. In addition to pritchke's very good list, there's also:

Maces - a random +4 morningstar of action, and of course the Three White Doves in HoW (anti-undead).

Hammers - random Star-Forged warhammer (in Tiers); +4, +2 bonus against spells, +10% magic resistance. You can get Giant's Sleep (+3) as random loot off of Joril. I also like Hellpick, which you can get from Conlan. The speed factor of 1 makes it a good choice to ambush spellcasters with.

Slings - a couple very good ones quite early in HoW.

These are all in the regular game, not HoF. For stuff in HoF, I don't know. These are pretty good already. ;)

They are. Jeez, I've been missing all the random ones, I guess. Where these added with HoW? Another reason for me to get my new computer. I have such a huge gaming to-do list:

IWD- solo a C/R
IWD2- make another quiz for chapter 1
BG- make powergamed C/R, thief, and sorceror
BGII- import powergamed characters and actually beat the game

I don't know which to do first.

Try the BG series. Overall, it's a better game and you haven't beaten BG2 yet. There are also some great mods for that game. I really enjoyed the challenge of the Weimer Tactics Mod.

Some of these were added in HoW, but I believe I remember the star-forged warhammer (GOOD item, I had it on a hasted fighter to beat down the tarnished/bronze sentries), Giant's Sleep, and possibly the +4 morningstar of action from my pre-HoW days.

And I can't comment on the order in which to complete your to-do list. I've got BGII sitting in my desk drawer, unused. It's there so that it's out of sight while I have pressing things to do. I already spend too much time (for how much I really have available) playing IWD 1, and IWD 2 which I just got into.

It wasn't the rarely available slings that bothered me but the lack of high powered bullets. +2 with fire were the best offered if I remember right. arrows came in several flavors better. I thought they could have done more with that seeing the character that uses them is so low HP.

Of some reason, I always buy the mace "The Love of Black Bess" at Conlan's for my Cleric/Rangers. Fairly cheap compared to some of the other items he have in stock, and a +3 weapon.

Otto 11-30-2004 08:23 AM

I agree with Stratos. Love of Black Bess is a +3 mace that you can get very early in the game, and use for a long time.

<font color = mediumspringgreen>Marty4,

If you are playing IWD-only (HoW not installed) I don't know if I could help: Don't know what weapons are added to the IWD area of the game by HoW.

I prefer the maces over hammers. My C/F or R/C (forgot who has it) got lots of mileage out of "The Giving Star."</font>

<font color = mediumspringgreen>I absolutely adore the Giant Killer: My F/D is a mean hitter with it. But where is Edley's sling, and what are its stats? Sounds vaguely familiar; but I am pretty sure my current party doen't have it.
