I'm new to the BG Engine and its rules, so forgive me if I pose a question really stupid.
Members of my party are level 12 or 11, yet they cannot cast level 5 or above spells, even though I have memorised them. The icon appears at the spellcasting bar, but appears dark, and when clicked upon says: Beyond Wizard Casting Ability."

That happens when your character's so-called 'casting ability'-score is too low. A spellcaster needs to have at least a score of 10 + the desired spell level in his casting ability to cast spells of that level. This casting ability is either Intelligence (for Wizards), Wisdom (for Clerics, Druids, Paladins and Rangers) or Charisma (for Sorceres and Bards).

So, for example, if a Wizard wants to cast 5th level spells, he needs to have an Int of at least 15, and he needs 19 Int to cast 9th level spells. Hope that clears it up for you. [img]smile.gif[/img]
