btw,are there any potions that increase your ability scores? |
Chapter 5? There should have been a nice dragon helm back at the river caves after you fought the white dragons. Did you cheeck out his treasure horde inside the cave?

Actually there is one potion that will raise your wisdom by 2 while dropping dex (or con, can't remember for sure) by 1. It's a good trade off as you find it EARLY enough to have it actually make a difference.

Yeah, I found that. Potion of Clear Focus or somesuch. -1 Con +2 Wis.
Tempted to give it to my monk/rogue, but her CON is already so low. 12 I think. |
i mean are there any potions that increase your ability scores without sacrificing other ability scores.
|
Yes, there are potions of strength for example, but those potions are NOT permanent. The potion I mentioned gives a permanent alteration to stats. I don't recall any potion that provides a permanent stat change without some trade-off.
Note that I said STAT change - there ARE some potions that do provide permanent effects, but those do not alter primary stats. |
There are only a few useful helms and other headgear. I think that this was an intentional decision on the part of the devs, IIRC.

and i would like to ask... normal helmets do not seem to protect from critical hits like in bg and iwd1.... its not a bug is it? and in that case, normal helmets are pretty useless to wear, just like wearing normal rings and stuff?
|
Nope, not a bug. It's the 3E rules kicking in.
Wearing non-magical helms is nothing more than a way to make an aesthetic statement about your character. |
