I found out that I don't have a certain letter for Captain Mariner. I have the one I was given by the soldier to give to his girlfriend, but discovered there's actually a different letter I was supposed to get instead. I've now finished the entire temple, and can't go back to get the other letter without starting back from the beginning. Is there anything I can do? Will I be able to deal with this later?

Yes. He makes it very apparent that something is not right with him not too much later
